You can order the OtterBox Defender for the BlackBerry PlayBook from Expansys.  Priced at £36.99 it is not the cheapest case but certainly the one to give you the most piece of mind. From previous OtterBox products I can say they have to give the best protection on the market.

BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing now available in the UK

BB Conf

Today Research In Motion (RIM) announced the availability of BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing in the UK. The app simplifies joining and scheduling conference calls from BlackBerry smartphones, is another great example of how BlackBerry smartphones enhance communications and productivity. The app is now available for UK users to download at no cost, from BlackBerry App World.

The app converts audio conferencing details into a single “Join Now” button for you to quickly and easily join a conference call from a BlackBerry smartphone in a single click. It also makes it easy to schedule conference calls from a BlackBerry smartphone in an easy two-step process using the BlackBerry Calendar and your conference call profile, which you can easily set up in the app. Many of the leading audio conferencing systems are supported.

Key features:

  • One-Click Join – Before a conference call starts, a pop-up reminder displays a “Join Now” button that, with a single click, dials the conference bridge and enters the appropriate codes to connect the you to the conference.
  • Reconnect – If the call gets disconnected or you need to drop off, the app will present a “Reconnect” button, which dials you back into the call with one click.
  • Easy Conference Scheduling – You can schedule a conference call complete with conference bridge details directly from the BlackBerry Calendar in an easy two-step process.  To enable this capability, you can set your conference call profile once in the BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app, including dial-in numbers and access codes, then simply adds the profile as part of the calendar invitation. (The moderator code is kept hidden from participants in the calendar invitation.)
  • Optimal Conference Call Number Selection – If multiple dial-in numbers are provided to accommodate participants in different regions, the application can automatically choose an optimal number to use, such as using the local number if you’re within the local calling area rather than a free-free number; or a free- free number if the dial-in number would otherwise be long distance. You can also select or modify a specific dial-in number manually.
  • BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing is now available to BlackBerry users in the UK and can be downloaded from the BlackBerry App World here: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/46253/.

Three Web Cube hands-on video

Three Web Cube

We showed you the unboxing video of Three’s new Web Cube HSPA+ device yesterday so I thought I had better show you it in action.

As you will see, not only is the Cube easy to use but it has some super cool blue lights, hence why I recorded the video in the dark.

The Web Cube can support up to five devices connected at any one time. It is not only a great back up gadget but also a alternative to having home broadband.

You can view the video below where I demo the Web Cube connected with my BlackBerry PlayBook and as you will see the Cube does a fine job.

Nice one Three.

Three Web Cube – Unboxing Video

Three Web Cube

The Web Cube’s Wi-Fi signal is powered by 3G so it comes ready-to-go with a mobile broadband SIM card. It’s really easy to set up – just plug it in, turn it on and connect using the name and password supplied in the box. You don’t need a phone line to get going, as long as it’s plugged into the mains and your SIM is inserted, our network will do the rest.

The Web Cube is HSPA+ enabled to the 21.1Mbps technical standard, to deliver typical download speeds of 2-5Mbps, comparable to those of entry-level fixed-line broadband solutions, with the potential to reach a maximum download speed in excess of 10Mbps. Up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices can be connected at any one time, including smartphones, laptops and tablets, and it has a range of up to 30 metres.

  • Fast, secure Wi-Fi broadband at home
  • No phone line needed
  • Plug in and get online instantly
  • HSPA+ technology for faster browsing
  • Connect up to five devices at any time

The Web Cube is currently being tested out in a few key cities across the UK so you can’t actually buy one yet, but I’m sure it wont be long.

Would I recommend it? Too flaming right I would!

bb7_image

If you are in the market for a new Blackberry you may or may not be aware that there are now many options when it comes to BlackBerry 7 handsets.

So I thought I would do a short video showing you the differences and highlighting the pros and cons. There isn’t really many cons but price will certainly be a factor.

Bearing in mind that the BlackBerry has now been the best selling Smartphone in the UK in both 2010 and 2011 I cant see that changing over the next twelve months.

So below you will see the Bold 9900, 9790, Torch 9810, 9860, Curve 9360 and even the Porsche Designed P9981!

Which to choose? Well, I’m hoping the video helps.

KISS Angry Birds?

Gene

According to a recent interview with Rovio, Gene Simmons has allegedly been talking about some sort of KISS-Angry Birds partnership.

You may or not be familiar with Gene Simmons but if not you may recall he is one of the front men of Rock group KISS that have been rocking the world since 1973. As well as being one of the richest men in rock n roll he is a superb business man and the KISS franchise is in every country worldwide.

Now I could talk about this for hours as KISS are my favorite band but I won’t bore you with the details.

Just to say that a KISS/Angry Birds could be so awesome!

Lets celebrate this rumor with a KISS video below:

iCrado Neo competition winner is…

icrado-neo_2

Congratulations to the winner of our iCrado Neo Neo competition that Clove kindly donated to us. The lucky winner is @guitardeejay from the land of Twitter. Please get in touch with us so we can send you the prize.

The cradle is made from metal and is very rigid, and feels solid and well made. The colour finish is too of a high standard and rubber feet on the base of the cradle avoid it slipping on a desktop.

Rubber grips provide a soft and protective resting place for the phone on the stylish cradle and because of the cradles design it means you can dock a phone even if it is in a protective case.how many others offer such a feature? What about docking it in portrait and landscape mode? Not many cradles offer this, the iCrado Neo does. Holes within the cradle itself give it a unique design but also help with cable management, keeping them neat and tidy.

If you fancy picking one up for yourself you can do so here.

You can see a video of me picking the winner below, just to show we are fair.
