How to use BBM Voice
Posted by: James
BBM7 came out of beta today and although it brings a few new things to the BlackBerry table, such as some new emoticons it is BBM Voice Chat that is the real big feature.
Voice Chat works over WiFi and allows you to talk to your BBM buddies wherever they are in the world at no charge. I’ve been using it for some weeks now and it works like a dream.
Whist on a voice chat you are still free to do other tasks on your BlackBerry due to multitasking. Where it comes in handy though is you can seamlessly send text and picture messages to the contact while still on the voice call.
It isn’t quite Skype but it the next best thing if you ask me. Another fine feature from RIM keeping us BlackBerry addicts happy.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is clearly the little brother of the popular Galaxy S3 and while the specs and size are not as great, that is because it is aimed at a different style of consumer. Not everyone wants the biggest and best smartphone and cost is always a factor, so the SGS3 Mini slots nicely into the mid range selection of smartphones on the market.
It pretty much gives us the same experience as on its bigger brother but just with a smaller form factor. The 4 inch Super AMOLED display is glorious and we still get some decent power with the 1GHz dual-core processor. Running Android Jelly Bean straight out the box is another bonus.
Due to its size, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini fits perfectly in the hand and will give consumers an easier one handed experience for sure.

It’s been a while since I last did an unboxing video so I was pretty pleased to get hold of HTC’s latest phone, the HTC Windows Phone 8S.
While the name may be a bit of a mouthful the phone itself isn’t too much of a handful with a 4″ display and carefully curved back in a textured finish this is a phone that’s easy and comfortable to hold.
HTC have made this one available in a variety of colours and this red one that we are looking at looks quite smart and stands out from the crowd. It’s quite festive too!
The 8S is the first Windows Phone 8 phone that I’ve had the chance to use in earnest so I’m looking forward to the next few weeks of testing. Initial impressions are that it runs really smoothly and rapid at most tasks despite the processor clock speed seemingly a little slow, on paper at least.
Check out the video below which covers the basics of the hardware before delving in and reviewing some of the OS and UI features.
For a few years now, Archos have been build cheap tablets that have met with varying feedback. Previously they were at the top end of the premium media player market. Recently Archos are in the process of releasing a newer, mid-range, varient of their fairly popular Archos 101. The XS combines a more quality feel with some unique design decisions. Here we will take a first look at a pre-release build of their latest flagship device.
Nokia’s latest flagship device, the Lumia 920, has finally graced us with its prescience. While the device is a real beauty you must bear in mind that it is a heavy phone – weighing 185g, and isn’t as thin as some of the Windows Phone competitors. That doesn’t put me off but to many it may.
Running Windows Phone 8 the Lumia 920 not only offers the latest mobile OS from Microsoft but also Nokia’s own apps such as Nokia Drive and Nokia Maps. Combined with what looks to be a stunning camera, including the PureView Technology, I suspect the 920 could be the Windows Phone with the most success. However, will the general consumer agree? Only time will tell.
You can catch our unboxing of the red variety of the Lumia 920 below and we will have a full review coming shortly.
