QiGi i6 officially supports both Android and Windows Mobile

qigi-i6 When it comes to mobile phones, China is perhaps best known for its copycat handsets. You know them – looking like the originals but offering fewer features and a build quality that makes them un-recommendable. However, QiGi i6, one of the latest smartphones to come from China and is nothing like that. It’s a quite nicely-designed device.

Yet the handset is not interesting due to its look, but due to its ability to run either Windows Mobile 6.1 or Google’s Android OS.

QiGi, the company that manufactured the i6, offers it in two flavors: an Android and a WM one. Unfortunately, there is no version that allows you to boot from both of the operating systems.

Apart from getting along well with Android and Windows Mobile, QiGi i6 also features:

  • A 2.8-inch touchscreen display,

  • On-screen QWERTY keyboard

  • GPS

  • Wi-Fi

  • Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity

  • Bluetooth

  • A 2MP camera

  • A 624MHz processor

  • microSD card support (up to 4GB)

  • 109 x 58 x 14.9 mm

As you can see, there is no 3G connectivity, but since the smartphone is manufactured for China, this isn’t such a big problem.

Now we can only hope that a similar handset (to support WM and Android) will reach Europe and the Americas too – regardless of which company manufactures it.
