We’ve known about them for a while but today Research In Motion have now made an official announcement about the new BlackBerry 7 smartphones to be released.
Devices to carry OS 7 will include the Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9850.
James has already been using the Bold 9900 for a number of weeks and will have his full review online for your reading pleasure in the next day or two.

Virgin media has today announced it is re-launching its mobile tariffs in a bid to offer its customers the hottest handsets through a range of contract options but with the added bonus of cost savings on monthly bill.
From August, new and existing customers will be able to take advantage of standard 24 month contracts as well as a new competitive range of 12 month contracts, providing more flexible options for those looking to stay up-to-date with the latest handset technology without being tied to a long contract.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd., a global leader in digital media and convergence technologies, today announced the launch of the ML-4510ND and ML-5015ND printer series, which is the latest addition to its business to business (B2B) printing range. Designed for small to medium businesses, the devices provide a productive, high quality and trouble free mono laser printing solution that is also economically and environmentally friendly. Delivering highly effective job processing quickly, the ML-4510ND prints 43 A4 pages per minute, while the 5015ND model prints 48 pages per minute. Jobs start within just 7.5 seconds when the printer is ready, and in 16 seconds from sleep mode.

T-Mobile today announces the launch of You Fix, a unique new mobile phone plan that combines the benefits of pay monthly with the flexibility and spend control of pay as you go. The only plan of its kind in the UK, You Fix is available from today through T-Mobile stores, from the online shop and telesales.
Customers signing up to You Fix will get a set allowance of minutes, texts and a Flexible Booster for a fixed monthly amount, on a short 12 month plan. For any more minutes or texts needed, customers can simply top-up as they would on pay as you go – meaning they’ll have the peace of mind that they’ll never pay more than they expect. Customers can also choose from a range of great value smartphones, including Android and BlackBerry, for a small payment upfront or for free.
You Fix has been designed to meet the changing needs of customers. Research for the brand has shown that nearly one quarter (23 per cent) of 11 – 20 year olds questioned have a smartphone, with 45% wanting a smartphone if they don’t have one already. This has resulted in a shift towards a greater appetite for pay monthly plans (11 per cent rise in the last 12 months) as an increasing numbers of parents meet their teenager’s demands for smartphones – however pay monthly plans don’t allow the same level of spend control as they’re used to on pay as you go, as a You Fix plan does.
We posted earlier this week that we had heard that a white version of the Samsung Galaxy S II was coming soon. Samsung have now confirmed this and the device will be available from September 1st.

BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), one of the largest mobile social networks in the world is now enabling a new and revolutionary social experience. Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced the availability of BBM version 6 (BBM 6), which provides support for "BBM connected" apps, allowing users to easily interact with each other from within the BBM connected app.
BBM connected apps integrate the popular functionality of the BBM service and offer users the ability to interact with their friends from within the app itself. For example, with a BBM connected game app, users can invite their BBM friends to join them in a game and then chat with one another in real time while the game is being played – without ever leaving the game app.

Everything Everywhere CEO, Tom Alexander has decided to end his time with the company and is passing over leadership to Olaf Swantee as from September 1st.
Alexander but will continue to advise the company, and support Olaf in the transition, until the end of the year.
Tom Alexander joined Orange in 2008 as CEO of the UK business with a wealth of experience in telecommunications. He became CEO of Everything Everywhere when the company was officially formed on 1st July 2010 following the merger of Orange UK and T-Mobile UK.
Tom Alexander said: “It’s been my privilege to serve Everything Everywhere these past twelve months, and Orange before that. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished: we conducted a rapid integration of the new company, completing a companywide restructuring, and maintained good commercial momentum throughout, delivering record retention levels and growth on our contract customer base across both brands. There is never an easy time to leave a company that you care deeply for but, for personal reasons, I feel now is a good moment to step back. I am delighted to welcome Olaf into his new role.
