The HTC One X is the first of three new Android phones from the HTC stable to announced at MWC this year. All three will carry the “One” name but we’re starting off with the biggest. The One X has a whopping 4.7″ display manages to cram in 720×1280 pixels. It may sound like it’s going to be a monster in terms of size but HTC’s clever design and styling means that it really doesn’t look or feel as big as you might think.
The HTC One X is all about performance and thanks to the QUAD-core 1.5GHz CPU it doesn’t disappoint in this department either. Check out the benchmark results in the video below but I can tell you we’ve ended up with the highest benchmark numbers ever seen.
There’s no Micro-SD card slot on the One X but fortunately there’s 32GB of internal memory to store your photos and media.
You can find the unboxing and first impression video below and we’ll have another video for you later on where we’ll look at some of the other features in more detail.
April 1st in upon us again and Google have released an absolutely classic video on their YouTube channel. They have developed a genius new keyboard for smartphones which I am sure could take the world by storm.
Tap into the future of productivity with Gmail Tap for Android and iOS. Double your typing speed with this revolutionary new keyboard.
Rather than be telling you all about it just watch the video by clicking here. It’s a real bobby-dazzler.

Archos have been confusing the market lately by releasing a new version for their current line almost every month. This original version for the Archos 101 G9 weighs in with a Dual Core 1ghz processor, 512mb of RAM and 8gb of storage, Essentially what we are looking at is the original, basic version of their flagship device however over the last six months there has been a number of revisions to the specifications for you to consider.
The Archos 101 comes in four flavours, with roughly three variants of each flavour.
-
Archos 101 G9 – Dual Core OMAP4, 1ghz, 512mb RAM with the option of storage size. 8/16gb flash or 250gb HDD storage
-
Archos 101 G9 Turbo – Dual Core, 1.2ghz, 512mb RAM, 8 / 16 / 250gb storage
-
Archos 101 G9 Turbo 1.5 – Dual Core, 1.5ghz 512mb RAM, 8 / 16 / 250gb storage
-
Archos 101 G9 Turbo 1.5 – Dual Core, 1.5ghz, 1gb RAM, 8 / 16 / 250gb storage
Quite a lot of choice. Each model weighs in at a different price point however it might be more difficult to find the first options and even then it might be old/unsold stock. There is no 3G/Wi-Fi option as with many other tablets on the market. Instead Archos have given the customer the option to upgrade to 3G later if they so choose buy purchasing a 3G modem USB stick that slips snugly into the USB host port on the back.
The Archos tablet puts video playback first, and always has. Armed with a host of licensed codec’s the Archos will playback any and all major video formats you throw at it. The Archos also has SMB and other network storage streaming features built into it’s native video player to make it just that little bit easier to handle media servers.
It is important to note the unboxing features Android Honeycomb, however the final review will feature Ice Cream Sandwich.
The ever popular free photo sharing application, Instagram, is inching closer to it’s release on Android. Be sure to head on over to Instagram and sign up to be one of the first to download this fantastic application.
That is all.

You may have seen on more than one of the main news channels today details of RIM’s earning call last night. You may also have noticed that several of these channels, including the BBC, have stated that RIM say they are going to focus on the enterprise segment of the market and not the consumer.
Whoever wrote these articles clearly didn’t listen properly to the earnings call. These claims are totally misleading. Sure, Thorsten Heins did say that the company would re-focus on core strengths, including the enterprise customer base but he certainly didn’t say that they would not continue to support the consumer market. In many parts of the world the consumer market is where Research in Motion is strongest, including here in the UK. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 has been hugely successful and continues to be.
One thing that Thorsten also said, which the bigger media channels didn’t pick up on, was that RIM would be bringing new low end devices to market within weeks. If this is the case how on earth can RIM not be focusing on the consumer! Continue Reading »
To launch its new HTC One series, HTC, a leading global designer of smartphones, has put a consumer at the heart of its’ latest TV commercial by challenging one to capture the world’s first free fall fashion shoot on a mobile phone. The campaign, which kicks off in the UK on 5th April, is designed to push the boundaries of performance for the mobile handset and its camera capabilities by demonstrating that it is possible to capture great shots whatever the environment.
To really bring the shoot to life, HTC challenged Nick Jojola, an amateur photographer, who had never skydived before to capture high production fashion imagery on the HTC One handsets whilst freefalling at 126mph. This not only delivered an unforgettable personal experience but it also created an amazing real-world product demonstration.
Filmed on location in Arizona, by skydiving cinematographer Norman Kent, the shoot features world champion skydiver and model, Roberta Mancino. Shot at dusk and dawn this complex and demanding advertising creative is designed to bring to life the simultaneous video and photo capture functionality and instant capture capabilities of the new HTC OneT handsets. Both the HTC OneT X and HTC OneT S challenge traditional digital compact cameras by delivering a range of features including high quality images even in low light conditions, instant image capture, auto focus, burst mode and backlight HDR technology and the ability to take stills from already shot HD video footage that operate effectively in both normal and adverse conditions.
