Samsung Galaxy Note filling that all important gap in the market

samsung_galaxy_note4, 5, 7, 9 and 10. Samsung as it all covered! WAIT! We need a 6" Android tablet, quick Samsung, get it out there. They’ve unveiled yet another new Android powered superphone that has the potential to change the future landscape of mobile phones. Most thought Samsung had outdone themselves earlier this year when they announced the Samsung Galaxy S II, but the new Samsung Galaxy Note pushed the boundaries even further. The new flagship phone from Samsung features a 5.3-inch 1280 x 800 Super AMOLED display, a 1.4 GHz Exynos processor, 8 and 2 megapixel rear and front facing cameras, support for HSPA+ and LTE networks and 2500 mAh battery while only measuring 9.65mm in thickness.

Will probably cost a couple of quid more than most other phones on the market running Android 2.3. But some come with a modified version of TouchWiz called S Pen, which is optimized for use with the included stylus. Sounds a little like the HTC Flyer.

toshiba-at200-550x385As expected, Toshiba has taken the wraps off of their latest Android tablet offering, the Honeycomb 3.2, 10.1-inch AT200. Measuring in at a mere 7.7mm thick, the Toshiba AT200 comes in as one of the thinnest Honeycomb slates yet, even more so than the Galaxy Tab 10.1. under the hood the tablet has a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 CPU, 5MP and 2MP cameras, and up to 64GB of on-board storage. The new Toshiba offering is decked out with microUSB, microHDMI, and microSD support.

HTC Titan specification

HTC TITAN - front right - Carbon Grey Following on from my earlier post from HTC’s press event I’m please to be able to bring you details of the new HTC Titan.

The HTC Titan certainly lives up to the Titan name with a 4.7″ display this has to be the largest phone I have ever seen. It’s perhaps a little surprising though that there isn’t a qHD resolution screen here but a 480×800 pixel panel is used instead. Either way this is going to be a nice phone for web browsing and video playback.

Other highlights include the 1.5GHz CPU and 16GB of on-board storage.

You can see the full specification below along with several more photos of the phone in all its glory. We’ll have our hands on videos etc. for you as soon as we can.

HTC Radar specification

HTC Radar - front angle - Metal Grey The HTC Radar is the second of two phones announced by HTC today.

The HTC Radar is another Windows Phone device and is the little brother of the giant HTC Titan. The 3.8″ screen may be a more ‘sensible’ size for the masses.

Once again, we’ll have our hands-on videos and review just as soon as we can.

In the mean time the full specification and some pretty photos follow.

HTC Announce two new Windows Phone devices

htc-logo-300x188 I’m currently sitting at an HTC press event in London where HTC are just about to announce two new Windows Phone devices, the HTC Titan and the HTC Radar.

It has been a while since we saw any new Windows Phone handsets so it’s great to see a couple of new devices launched today.

At the moment I’m not sure of the launch timing or what networks the phones will be on, if any, but should discover much of this during the event. I’m also hoping for some hands-on time with both phones.

I’ll be reporting more as we get and full details of both phones will follow this post shortly.

Toshiba Tablet to Excite

excite1-trademarkRecently, we reported that the Thrive was coming to Europe however there was a new and improved version of the Toshiba Android tablet on the horizon. According to sources at AndroidPolice, there will be a new follow-up Android tablet with a new name. That name will most likely be, The Excite. A tipster garnered the intel about the device, but there is also two other bits of corroborating evidence. One is the Trademark filing above, and the other is that Toshiba has bought up the following slew of domain names: ‘excitetablet.com,’ ‘excitetablet.net,’ toshibaexcite.com,’ ‘toshibaexcite.net’ and ‘thetoshibaexcite.com and others. Incidentally, these three puzzle pieces were the exact same method that lead to the accurate deduction of the name for the Thrive as well.

The word is that this new tab will be an ultra-thin variant of the Thrive, but will still pack in all of the same features of the original, plus some other enhancements to go along with the svelt design. Here’s a breakdown:

  • 10.1 Inch
  • Ultra thin body – Possibly the biggest difference to the chunky Thrive right there.
  • MicroUSB
  • Micro HDMI
  • MicroSD ports
  • Brushed metal finish
  • Dual-core, 1.5-GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4460
  • 8 GB to 32 GB storage sizes
  • Multiple Colors again and more.

Motorola Pro Canned, Motorola Pro+ Incoming

moto pro

Motorola yesterday announced the Motorola Pro+, effectively replacing the Motorola Pro which will not now see a UK release. It is slightly disappointing news regarding the Pro, the situation has chopped and changed somewhat since its announcement at MWC in February, but at least there is a follow up device on its way.

Motorola have been back and forth making a decision whether to bring the Motorola Pro to the UK market. It wouldn’t make sense to launch one handset, only to release a successor shortly after, so the Motorola Pro will not now come to the UK. However, the Motorola Pro+ will come to the UK and is expected to be available late October/early November. You can pre-order the Motorola Pro+ from the Clove website later today. In the meantime, checkout the teaser video and spec sheet below.

Samsung Galaxy W coming to Three – Video

samsung-galaxy-w

We mentioned yesterday about the four new Galaxy phones that Samsung announced. Three were quick of the mark to let us know that they will be stocking the Galaxy W soon.

Running on a 1.4GHz processor, the smartphone is one of the fastest devices in our portfolio.  It’s great at navigation, web browsing and using lots of apps at the same time.

The Galaxy W has a cool design and a 5MP camera which is great for those wanting to take loads of photos on an ultra-portable phone.  There is also Social Hub, a service provided by Samsung, which gathers all your messages, from Facebook, your work email, Twitter, LinkedIn, and puts them onto one page.  For those of you who haven’t already tried this, Samsung’s Social Hub works great on the new Galaxy W.

You can see a short video about the Samsung Galaxy below courtesy of the Three Blog.
