Cingular launch Treo 750

Palm, Inc. and Cingular Wireless today announced the first Palm Treo smart device running on Cingular’s 3G/UMTS network, providing mobile professionals with an exceptional phone experience and blazing-fast download speeds in U.S. markets and in dozens of countries around the world. The highly anticipated Treo 750 five-band world phone running Windows Mobile 5.0 with Direct Push Technology offers Palm’s exclusive usability improvements with powerful business features, including email, security, and web access on the go.

The Treo 750 combines the Palm experience of a multifunction mobile phone with email, messaging, web browsing, organization software and a robust application portfolio with Cingular’s next-generation 3G network. Its new compact design features an internal antenna, soft-touch finish, and contoured edges to make it comfortable in the hand. The Treo 750 also has a full QWERTY keyboard for easy messaging, a 1.3-megapixel camera, a bright 240×240 touch screen and support for Bluetooth(R) stereo headsets. The built-in 60MB of user-available storage can be enhanced by using the miniSD slot to add memory cards of up to 2GB, which are great for storing data, photos, music and video.

izenMobile introduce more Eten variants

Another day, another set of Eten device variants!

A couple of days ago Pharos announced their Eten X500 based ‘GPS Phone’ device and today we have just heard that the little known, San Diego-based izenMobile is introducing its 2007 phones at CES: the KRMA (Eten X500) and the KSMT (Eten M700).

Virtual Earth Mobile 1.69 released

Virtual Earth Mobile is a funny beast. Microsoft doesn’t appear to push it, support it, or beta test it. Instead one guy, Jason Fuller, takes it upon himself to not only release and occasionally update, but to provide the source Visual Studio product.

The product itself is really good, and definitely a program to show off the capabilities of your device.

Rather like Windows Live Local, VEM is a small application which allows access to the Virtual Earth servers, with mapping and decent quality aerial imagery too. The original release of the program wasn’t terrible, but suffered some annoying bugs, and in my experience struggled to maintain a connection to the servers.

Pharos release GPS Phone

The Canadian company, Pharos are planning to release their own version of the Eten X500 and have imaginatively named it the “GPS Phone”.

The “GPS Phone” comes bundled with Pharos’ own navigation software.

Samsung i320 on Vodafone

The ultra slim Samsung SGH-i320 has just appeared on the Vodafone UK business website.

The i320 is very similar in spec and design to the Samsung i600 but is a little smaller and excludes WiFi and 3g connectivity. The lack of quad-band may also put frequent travellers off this device but as the i600 is looking less and less likely for a UK release it maybe this only option if you want a Samsung device.

VPA compact IV (HTC Herald) on Vodafone Germany

The Vodafone variant of the HTC Herald has just appeared for sale on the Vodafone site in Germany.

The device is called the VPA Compact IV and compliments the existing VPA (Vodafone Personal Assistant) range of devices.
