Cnet have got hold of a Touch HD and posted a nice side by side picture with the HTC Diamond and the HTC Touch Pro. The screen on the Touch HD just looks amazing, so crisp and bright and looks like a great device for web surfing in landscape mode as you can see in the pictures. This looks like the device that will be a true iPhone competitor oh and don’t forget it has a 3.5mm headphone slot too. Pictures after the break.
Dave over at Mobility Today will be attending the Google Android launch on Tuesday next week and will be live blogging what is going on and being announced as it happens. The event is being held in New York so it is a bit far for us to travel so we will be keeping an eye on the news from afar. It is always exciting to see another smart phone operating system come out, so we will be itching to get one in our hands to see what it is all about. A few pictures of the device after the break.
More live shots of T-Mobile’s G1, aka the HTC Dream, have leaked out of Google. Leaked an unnamed internal source at Google, the handset in question was apparently being used by a tester as his primary handset.
While no new details about the device have leaked out with the images, they do confirm just how close to the Sidekick the handset appears when used in horizontal mode with the QWERTY keyboard. It also gives a sense of proportion that has so far been absent; unless the tester has abnormally large or small hands, the G1 doesn’t look as massive as some of the early leaked shots might have suggested.
It remains to be seen whether the pronounced “chin” section gets in the way of typing (Sidekicks usually have a bevelled edge either side of the keyboard, whereas on the G1 it’s more blunt) but this confirms that the device is in the wild and good enough to be used as a sole handset.

Coolsmartphone managed to attend the Xperia X1 launch last night in London and got a boat load of pictures of the device on their Flickr page here. Their early thoughts on the handset is that it perhaps didn’t perform as quickly as it could, although it could be an early ROM build (err its launched on the 30th). Screen-switching speed wasn’t too bad, although it is dependent on what you’re doing at the time – watching a video and sliding the keyboard out took a little longer. Just had a tip off from Superetrader of a video that has just hit Youtube of the HTC Touch HD. The video is all in French unfortunately. The Touch HD is impressive, its screen quality is amazing. Enjoy the 12 minutes of video after the break. The software on the device is not finished yet.
The first “GooglePhone” will hit the streets of the US for $199 next week. It’s a T-Mobile exclusive (For now) and will require a service agreement with T-Mobile. In simple UK speak: its on contract, not PAYG.
Despite that, it does appear the phone is going to cost a lot less than the iPhone – but that’s dependant on what sort of contract you will be pushed into.
Oh and the HTC Dream / GooglePhone has now got a proper name – maybe. Rumours suggest ‘T-Mobile G1’ is the rather unoriginal name.
