I have just received an email from devicewire.com to let us know that the three recent announced handsets from HTC are all now available to pre order and have an expected delivery date of April 12th. Much sooner than we expected to be honest.
We are looking forward to getting our hands on these new bad-boys for review and hope to have something for you within the next couple of weeks.
Expect these handsets to be in high demand so definitely worth pre-ordering if you want to make sure that you’ll get yours on release day. Typically the first shipments of new handsets is fairly small.
It would appear that the rumours of the HTC HD2 getting a possible upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series has been smashed!
Natasha Kwan, General Manager for Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business in the Asia-Pacific region, told APC that the HD2 “doesn’t qualify because it doesn’t have the three buttons”.
This doesn’t surprise me in the slightest as when I had a one to one with Microsoft at MWC I was told that the important factor on the new devices would be the combination of three specific buttons.
Its a shame as the HTC HD2 does meet the rest of the required specs but it has too many buttons. I know that sounds crazy but that’s the way it is!
For those of you with the HD2 or other 6.5 devices do not fear as Microsoft will still support you and the OS will be re-branded as Windows Phone Classic. I know that’s not much of a consolation if you were hoping for a upgrade but it pretty much looks like if you want a 7 Series phone then you will have to get a new device.

Those lucky chaps at engadget have managed to get a hands on with a real Windows Phone 7 Series.
At a recent get together Microsoft’s Aaron Woodman produced the phone and its an LG! That was surprise for me with LG not even being at this years MWC but maybe that’s because they are busy working on 7?
The guys at engadget have said the following about the device:
“We can tell you a few things about it: it’s just a hair thicker than an iPhone or Nexus One, there are dedicated hardware camera, volume, and power buttons in addition to the back, home, and search buttons dictated by Windows Phone 7 Series, and we noticed a five megapixel camera with a flash on the back, along with a headphone jack”.
Although the device is a prototype and the finished version may be somewhat different its great to see not only the new UI in the flesh but also that this device is a slide out QWERTY. It looks pretty nice to me.

It’s only £149.00 on payg!
That’s what I found when I popped into my local Orange Retail store yesterday. I couldn’t believe my eyes!
The device sports a 4.1 inch screen and a Snapdragon 1GHz processor and for that reason I was going to buy one but unfortunately the store did not have the TG01 in stock.
Why is it so cheap all of a sudden? I don’t know officially why but I would guess that they have limited stock left and that Orange are trying to sell them rather than being stuck with them.
At under £150 the Toshiba TG01 is a bargain and if you want one I suggest giving your local Orange store a call. I would be quick about it though!

The Palm Pre has been around now for five or six months but unfortunately it has taken us that long to get hold of a review unit!
Praise the Lord that I eventually made contact with a lovely lady at Palm and within a couple of days our review unit was on its way.
Most of us know that Palm has been struggling a bit over the past couple of years and with the release of the Pre and the Pixi (in the USA) and subsequently the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus, it’s really crunch time for them. Of course it’s not just a new phone for Palm but also a brand new operating system; WebOS.
Sales have not been great for the Palm Pre, particularly in Ireland where rumour has it that they have sold a mere 200 units up to December 2009!
So where are Palm going wrong, if anywhere?

For only £25.00 per month the HTC Tattoo is free with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.
That sounds like a pretty good deal if you ask me but rather than me yakking on about it just head on over to Devicewire.com and have a look.

It looks like Sky and Nokia have been working on something rather cool. Within the Ovi Store you can now find a Sky app!
Users will be able to watch Sky Sports live on their phone, Barclays Premier League goals and match highlights with 24-7 Football, record their favourite programmes straight to their Sky+ box using Remote Record and have access to breaking Sky News headlines.
The first compatible handsets are the N97, N97 mini (pictured), 5800 XpressMusic and the 5530, with the 5230 and X6 following shortly. A version of the application with non-mobile TV features will also be available on 10 further handsets, which are yet to be announced.
While at MWC this week I was very fortunate to get a one to one session with Eric Lin from HTC and his selection of new devices.
Although this was not my first time with the three new phones it was my first time having a private chat with Eric and what I can say is that he is a real nice guy. He was kind enough to give me a short demo of the Legend, Desire and HD Mini and each time I see all three of these devices they grow on me more and more.

The video of HTC Legend, Desire and HD Mini follow too and watch for the pounding that the HTC Legend takes at about 3:50 into the video, that’s one well built phone!
Well I am back from Mobile World Congress and the collection of videos I have are either in the process of being edited or else being uploaded to YouTube. There will be plenty of videos for you to have a look at over the next few days along with photos, press releases and other comments from the event in Barcelona.
One of the first things I wanted to see at the show was the Samsung Wave with the new Bada OS. We’d heard a lot about Bada already so I was keen to go and play with it myself.
So the short video clip below is just a teaser of what’s to come. I do have a longer video uploading where a Samsung rep demos the OS to me and that will be posted later, just as soon as Matt finishes editing and uploading it. There are also tons of other videos of other devices to upload so please be sure to check back frequently!
As you will see I was rather impressed. The screen is amazing!
As I am sure you are all aware Mobile World Congress is now underway in Barcelona, Spain. 
Here at tracyandmatt we don’t want to miss out on the action so I am now leaving for the airport to fly over and cover the the news from the event.
In particular I am looking forward to tomorrows HTC press conference and later in the day I have a meeting with Microsoft to discuss today’s announcements.
Of course I will be attending all the manufactures stands at the show and taking photos and video, but if there is anything in particular you would like to see please comment on the forum and I will do my best.
