Samsung Galaxy S II arriving mid to late March

Screen shot 2011-02-25 at 14.25.30

Our friends over at Clove have updated their blog to give some indication of when they can expect the Samsung galaxy S II in stock.

Here is what they say:

As we all know, release dates are always subject to change but we’ve had word today that the first stock of the Samsung Galaxy S II i9100, both the 16GB & 32GB versions, will be landing mid to late March. This is slightly sooner than expected as it was previously thought that Samsung’s new ‘superphone’ would not be available until some time in Q2.

The prices that we have listed are correct at this time, but are subject to change. Regrettably the 16GB model has increased in price since its original listing in the Clove website. If you place a pre-order today, you will not be charged and once the final price and availability has been confirmed, you will be given the option to proceed with or cancel the order.

For customers that have already placed an order for the 16GB model at the lower price, please contact us quoting your order reference number, confirming whether or not you agree to the revised price, or whether you wish to change to the 32GB model. Previously the 32GB model was not listed, but we have now had confirmation that it will be available.

We now have the two variation of the SGS2 listed at the following prices:

Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 (16GB) – £510 + VAT

Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 (32GB) – £590 + VAT

Is this the new Facebook for BlackBerry?

BlackBerry-Facebook-2

N4BB.com has given us some new leaked images this week. The pictures you see to the right of our page is said to be version 2.0 of Facebook for BlackBerry.

The new version of the application will bring us BlackBerry users more in line with the likes of Android and iPhone users. I am particularly looking forward to seeing the Facebook Chat feature in use.

Here’s what we can expect:

  • Facebook Chat
  • UI Refresh
  • View friends’ profile info, pages and friends lists
  • Improved core app integration

N4BB has said that the new version of the app is due for release around May 2011 with a beta version as early as March.

Looks good!

Parrot MiniKit Smart unboxing video

parrot mini smart 1

Parrot announced the MiniKit Smart back in November of last year and one has eventually found its way to us for a review. I am rather partial to a Bluetooth car kit as I spend hours each day in my car and often conduct business over the telephone which means I need a quality piece of hardware to suit my needs.

In the unboxing video below you will not only see what comes in the box but also a quick demo including pairing with a phone for the first time.

Early impressions are extremely positive but you will have to wait for the full review to hear my final verdict.

Enjoy the video!

If you are in the market for a new top end Smartphone or tablet then you may want to consider Vodafone. Their ‘coming soon’ page on the site is busting at the seams with all the good stuff from our top manufactures.

Although the handsets are not yet released you do get the opportunity to sign up for updates so at least when the device does become available you will get notified.

Head on over to the Vodafone site or you can see the full range of ‘coming soon’ phones and tablets after the break.

We will of course have full reviews of all the below devices in due course.

Navita Translator for BlackBerry

Navita2

Last week we showed you a demo video of Google Translator for the iPhone. I didn’t realise at the time that there is an equivalent app for the BlackBerry too, called Navita Translator.

Navita does much the same as Google Translate and you get a vast range of languages to choose from. And if you don’t fancy trying to pronounce the sentence you have translated you can get the app to speak it for you. The app integrates both Google and Bing Translate and there is also a dictionary section although it wouldn’t work for me today.

You can get Navita Translator fro free in BlackBerry App World. It’s a real must if you are going travelling.

HTC Incredible S demo video – MWC

Incredible S_1

Here we have another demonstration video recorded by Gareth at Mobile World Congress earlier this week. The HTC Incredible S is most definitely a new one to us here in Europe. Over in America they already have the Droid Incredible which is a CDMA device so it’s great that we get a GSM version at last, although some specs are different.

Sporting a 4-inch WVGA Super LCD display and with stereo surround sound the Incredible S may be the perfect option for you mobile media lovers. I personally found the HTC Desire HD a little too large so this one really appeals to me.

Enjoy the demo video after below along with a reminder of the devices full spec.

GoodReader for iOS get an update

GoodReader_Logo

GoodReader, named as the 2010’s #2 best-selling iPad app in the U.S., is now available with an amazingly simple-to-use Auto Sync feature which enables users to download documents or entire folders from remote servers and mark them to automatically synchronize. Changes made to documents in GoodReader will instantly be available for others to access on the remote server with a simple tap of the Sync button. Other key new features are the ability to download entire folders from remote servers, rather than only individual files, and support for SugarSync.

“This entire update to GoodReader is dedicated to the ‘Live on the cloud’ idea,” said Yuri Selukoff, president of Good.iWare. “GoodReader’s Auto Sync is a beautiful feature — with the touch of one button, several documents or folders from several different servers can be synced simultaneously and available to everyone with access to the folder.”

T-Mobile Logo t-mobile

Operator will introduce flat rates across all of its European markets from March to encourage users to access data when roaming

T-Mobile is to launch the first EU flat rate “transparent” data roaming plans to improve customer experience.

T-Mobile said today at the 2011 Mobile World Congress it was introducing three flat rate data plans to encourage customers to access data whilst roaming.

It said the plans are designed to improve transparency on data costs for customers and remove fears of high bills.

The offer covers all EU countries including the UK and those T-Mobile does not operate in.

The packages include £1.95 for 10mb and £4.95 50MB per day and a week flat pass for £14.95.

Customers will be given active feedback on their usage.

It will be in place from March and across all its markets by July in time for summer.

Every T-Mobile customer will receive a text offering the service when they move in to a new country.

Only 3 per cent of customer typically use data roaming. DT expects the plan to increase customers numbers.

Deutsch Telekom chief technology and innovation officer Edward Kozel (pictured) said. “It’s as a easy and as transparent as you can get.”

Good news. Now I wonder if this will apply to Orange as well?

RIM announces plans to provide carriers with new BBM Mobile Gifting platform

blackberry-messenger-logo

Research In Motion (RIM) today announced plans for an innovative mobile gifting platform for carriers that will allow one authorised BlackBerry subscriber to use their post-paid or pre-paid account to conveniently, securely and instantly approve and pay for airtime, apps or other carrier services requested by another BlackBerry subscriber.

The innovative BBM mobile gifting platform will integrate with BlackBerry App World and carrier billing systems and allow the gifting requests and approvals to be handled directly between the BlackBerry subscribers using BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) with transactions that are secure, authenticated and non-repudiable. The platform will also allow carriers to more easily sell airtime to BlackBerry prepaid subscribers (for the subscriber’s own use).

“RIM is committed to aligning with carrier business models to deliver innovative and relevant mobile commerce solutions,” said Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO at RIM. “There will be many usage scenarios and circumstances that can be accommodated through the BBM mobile gifting platform around the world, but the easiest for many people to readily envision and appreciate is the simplified act of a parent approving their child’s request for additional airtime minutes or an app purchase with a single click using BBM.”

The introduction of such convenient and tightly integrated services based on the BBM mobile gifting platform will enhance mobile commerce and enable carriers to provide unique value to their customers. BlackBerry subscribers will be able to buy or gift airtime, apps and other carrier services and charge the purchases to their existing postpaid or prepaid account, or alternatively pay for the purchases through various other payment methods.
