Palm Eos 3G GSM WebOS phone sighted

image Engadget are reporting that they have the details on the recently rumoured new Palm Pre Mini and it is going to be called the Eos. (in Greek mythology, the Titanic goddess of the dawn, who rose from her home at the edge of Oceanus, the Ocean that surrounds the world, to herald her brother Helios, the sun.) well we wouldn’t go that far but that is what Eos means, anyway, the Palm Eos will run the new Palm WebOS and it will be a GSM phone with quadband. The phone will supposedly be 10.6mm thick, 55mm wide and 111mm high and will weigh only 100  and will have a 2.63-inch, 320 x 400 capacitive display. The rest of the specifications are after the break.

The Palm Pre Mini rumour

palm-pre-150x150 After the break is a rumour I certainly hope is very much not true. Whilst I’m far from opposed to a variety of Palm Pre phones I’d much rather they established the Palm Pre first before spending any time developing a second phone based around this model. Check after the break for the article from Electric Pig.

Tellme coming to Windows Mobile 6.5

image For the past decade, Tellme has been pioneering voice services for businesses and consumers, answering billions of calls every year and helping millions of people get the information they need simply by speaking a request. Now the convenience of voice is coming to Windows phones, bringing people closer to the things they want by providing easier access to more of the phone’s functionality. With Tellme people using the latest Windows phones will be able to simply say what they want, such as ‘call mom’ or ‘text Jim’ or ‘pizza,’ and results display on the screen.

Tellme will be available for free on Windows Mobile 6.5 phones in the Fall 2009 when the phones hit store shelves. Initially available in the Windows Marketplace for Mobile store, Tellme will also make the service available for free to mobile operators and carriers to embed ‘on-device’ for a voice experience right out of the box.

Sounds like an interesting service, you can read the full press release here and after the break there is a demo video so you can see what it is all about.

New WebOS Screenshots

image We haven’t covered the Palm Pre very much recently probably because we are losing interest very quickly. Not just because we don’t know a delivery date for the US version, hell, Palm haven’t even officially announced that it is even coming to Europe, what carrier it will be on or anything interesting for that matter. It now looks quite clear that we are going to have to wait quite some time for a GSM Palm Pre to appear in Europe and we will all just have to look over the pond at our US friends who will get to enjoy this great looking phone well before us. Ok thats the moaning out of the way, PreThinking have managed to get hold of some Palm Pre WebOS screenshots from the recently released SDK, take a look at them after the break.

Samsung I7500 Android phone heading to the UK in Q3

image Samsung have announced their first Android phone, set to debut in the UK in Q3. The I7500 will have a 3.2-inch capacitive OLED touchscreen as seen in the the recent Tocco Ultra Edition.

The Android handset will have the latest Cupcake update, 5MP camera with flash, 3.5mm headset jack and 8GB of internal memory which should be plenty for all the new Android applications that are starting to come through.

O2 has apparently picked up this handset in Germany, so we assume it will follow onto the UK soon after. That will mean an Android handset on all the major UK networks except Orange and Three.

A look at the Pandora

PandaFront

Here is a device that might just get a few folks talking. This is the Pandora, roughly the same size as the Nintendo DS and, as you can see, looks like the Nintendo DS lite. Pandora is an open end platform that will specialise in homebrew applications and games, similar to the GP2X. The Pandora developers have already shown working emulators for PlayStation, Amiga, Super NES, Atari Jaguar and Sega Mega Drive software.

Samsung Omnia Pro

omnia-pro

This one lies deep in the bowels of Rumorsville for the time being but we can’t say we’d hate for it to become a reality. According to Samsung – HD blog, Sammy will have a new addition to its Omnia lineup come July. Billed as the Omnia Pro — which, by the way, definitely detracts from the believability-factor of this rumor — the new handset will feature a full touchscreen sitting atop a QWERTY slider a la HTC’s Touch Pro and Pro2. Perhaps Sammy figured if it was going to bite the form factor it might as well bite the name, too? Reported specs for the Omnia Pro include a 3.5-inch 800 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen display, Windows Mobile 6.1 (which will be upgradable to 6.5 upon release) and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, a flash and video recording capabilities. So if you’ve been eying the OmniaHD but aren’t a fan of S60 5h Edition or touchscreen-only handsets, keep your fingers crossed that this rumor ends up panning out. The image above, by the way, is a mock up created by the source.
