iCall for the iPhone, VoIP coming soon officially

image One of the most anticipated applications for the iPhone for me is a Vo-IP application which would allow me to make calls using WiFi. Well the good news is iCall for the iPhone is coming and it will be available officially from the iTunes App Store. It is also rumoured to become available through usave broadband and phone deals. Not only will you be able to make calls over WiFi but also seamlessly transfer a mobile call over to VoiP which could save you a lot of minutes each month. T-Mobile UK cuts European roaming charges

image Hot on the heels of O2’s announcement yesterday, T-Mobile have announced price cuts on using their plans abroad this summer. From 1 July, international roaming rates within the EU will fall by as much as 80% for internet access and mobile broadband. The charge for sending a text within Europe will reduce by 38% and T-Mobile will also make voice calls and messaging more affordable by introducing Euro Holiday Boosters for both PAYG and pay-monthly customers. Over to you Orange, Vodafone, Virgin and Three.

Cootek Touchpal update to include HTC Diamond keyboard shell

image Dave over at Mobility Today has just been informed that CooTek are in the process of preparing to release a new version of their famous Keyboard. They are going to release an update V3.2 very soon, and there will be a specific skin for the HTC Touch Diamond.

O2 reduces text and data roaming costs for UK Customers

image Ahead of this years summer holiday season, O2 has made reductions for its UK customers who use their mobile phones in EU countries.

The cost of texting for prepay customers has been reduced from 49p to 25p per text, matching the rate already in place for postpay customers.

Kelly Osbourne films Glastonbury diaries for Orange

image Orange, Official Communications Partner of Glastonbury, has today announced a partnership with singer, actress and presenter, Kelly Osbourne. Kelly will be filming video diaries on her Orange mobile phone from Glastonbury which will be uploaded to www.orange.co.uk/glastonbury during the festival.

HTC and Samsung not worried about iPhone 3G

image Smartphone makers and analysts have downplayed fears that Apple‘s iPhone 3G could pose a serious challenge for older smartphone manufacturers.

Analysts from Primasia Securities said in a report on major Taiwanese smartphone maker High Tech Computer (HTC) that concern about the iPhone 3G is " overblown".

O2 Existing iPhone customers upgrade path to iPhone 3G

image Existing O2 iPhone customers can upgrade early to the new iPhone 3G for free on certain tariffs according to O2 however you will have to agree to a new 18 month contract from the date of the upgrade. I was thinking that this seems a fair deal as usually there is a penalty for upgrading early on a contract plan but then I remembered that you have already paid for an unsubsidised handset up front so really its the least they can do.
