Despite the flurry of all the iPhone related news, there is other news around today. Its Windows Sideshow gadgets. It would be awesome to view Media Centre content on your Windows mobile device. Guess what? You might be able to some day. Probably very slowly if the integrated Media Centre on the Xbox 360 is anything to go by. But who knows, it might work well and revolutionise your need to onboard storage and syncing.
The Unwired has all the biz over there.
O2 today announced that Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 3G will go on general sale from 8.02am on Friday 11 July in O2, Apple and Carphone Warehouse retail stores*. To ensure fairness, O2 will sell the device on a strictly first come, first served basis to both new and upgrading customers in all retail outlets.
Since O2 went live (or as discussed here, dead) with online ordering of the new iPhone 3G they have provided some details on what you need to order and also answer some questions on upgrading, activation, returns and warranty. Full details can be found after the break and it makes interesting reading especially the part about activation at home.
According to O2’s website the iphone 3G is sold out already, that is 8 gig and 16 gig models, Come back on the 10th July for more information!!! Makes you wonder how many were actually available in the first place.
XDA- Developers are at it again, this time forum member Sacha Lange has created Diamond TF3D Config. This small CAB file will allow you to customise the HTC Diamond home screen and let you change the order of the tabs in the TouchFLO 3D user interface and hide those you do not want to use. Screen shots and links to download after the break.
Well it has been a totally frustrating morning for anyone who has been trying to pre-order the O2 iPhone 3G, the site has been down since just after 8am this morning and now when you eventually do get in a position to place the order, all that is available is the 8 Gig version. This cannot be right, has demand been that great that they have sold out already, has anyone actually managed to place an order?
As mentioned in our earlier post, O2 decided to accept pre-orders for the iPhone 3G this morning starting at 8am. Unfortunately it seems that the online ordering has been anything but a success, we have received a lot of comments that the system is breaking down and sure enough when we checked it just now it was offline.
There is a good discussion going on over at at Apple which you can take a look at here.
Well some of the rumours were right, most were wrong, I received an email from O2 this morning and from 8am 7th July you can pre-order the iPhone 3G. You do not need to go into any store as they will deliver free of charge to your home on July 11th. You can order it from this link.
Wondering what the experience is going to be like on Friday when Apple makes its long awaited iPhone Software 2.0 available? Well, wonder no more, Paul Thurrott has got his hands on a near-final version of iPhone Software 2.0 and iTunes 7.7, and he shows you the install experience as well as some of the MobileMe and Microsoft Exchange integration pieces.
