Flip Ultra HD camcorder review

flip-mainThe first of Cisco’s Flip camcorders brought about a whole new section to camcorders – that Flip Video camera was small and simple to use, and since then many other manufacturers have released their own ultra portable camcorders. This new Flip Ultra HD builds on the success of the Flip Ultra with new features such as HD recording and image stabilisation, while keeping a very similar design. Other notable features include recording at 50 frames a second which results in much smoother video than you’d find on a high end HD capable smartphone, plus the integrated flip out USB port that’s now on every Flip.

There are two versions, both available from Dabs.com, a basic model with 4GB of inbuilt storage and one with 8GB that packs a few extra features, and it’s that one we have for review today. Is it good enough to warrant carrying yet another device on your travels? Read on to find out.

Logic3 i-Station Podium unboxing video

istation There are quite literally hundreds of speaker docks available for iPod’s and iPhone’s but as yet there are very few docks available for the iPad. Whilst I’m sure that everyone will soon catch up and bring out their own models, Logic3 have been one of the first to market with their i-Station Podium product.

The i-Station is an amplified 2-speaker stand with power and volume controls on the unit itself. The nice thing about this is that you can use it in either portrait or landscape mode thanks to a swivel in the back.

Having a media dock for the iPad seems like a logical choice to me, the iPad’s large display really does lend itself to making a great media centre and the i-Station also comes with an App for the iPad that allows for additional settings, EQ Functions and Weather display.

Check out the quick unbox below and I’ll be back soon with the review.

htc-desire-hd

Good news if you own one of the above HTC handsets. HTC have confirmed that they will all get an update to Gingerbread in quarter two of this year.

And of course you Google Nexus One owners will have your update too and that should be within the next couple of weeks.

Phew! There is nothing worse than having an Android handset that is stick on an old version of the OS so a pat on the back for HTC.

Samsung Galaxy S II arriving mid to late March

Screen shot 2011-02-25 at 14.25.30

Our friends over at Clove have updated their blog to give some indication of when they can expect the Samsung galaxy S II in stock.

Here is what they say:

As we all know, release dates are always subject to change but we’ve had word today that the first stock of the Samsung Galaxy S II i9100, both the 16GB & 32GB versions, will be landing mid to late March. This is slightly sooner than expected as it was previously thought that Samsung’s new ‘superphone’ would not be available until some time in Q2.

The prices that we have listed are correct at this time, but are subject to change. Regrettably the 16GB model has increased in price since its original listing in the Clove website. If you place a pre-order today, you will not be charged and once the final price and availability has been confirmed, you will be given the option to proceed with or cancel the order.

For customers that have already placed an order for the 16GB model at the lower price, please contact us quoting your order reference number, confirming whether or not you agree to the revised price, or whether you wish to change to the 32GB model. Previously the 32GB model was not listed, but we have now had confirmation that it will be available.

We now have the two variation of the SGS2 listed at the following prices:

Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 (16GB) – £510 + VAT

Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 (32GB) – £590 + VAT

Is this the new Facebook for BlackBerry?

BlackBerry-Facebook-2

N4BB.com has given us some new leaked images this week. The pictures you see to the right of our page is said to be version 2.0 of Facebook for BlackBerry.

The new version of the application will bring us BlackBerry users more in line with the likes of Android and iPhone users. I am particularly looking forward to seeing the Facebook Chat feature in use.

Here’s what we can expect:

  • Facebook Chat
  • UI Refresh
  • View friends’ profile info, pages and friends lists
  • Improved core app integration

N4BB has said that the new version of the app is due for release around May 2011 with a beta version as early as March.

Looks good!

Parrot MiniKit Smart unboxing video

parrot mini smart 1

Parrot announced the MiniKit Smart back in November of last year and one has eventually found its way to us for a review. I am rather partial to a Bluetooth car kit as I spend hours each day in my car and often conduct business over the telephone which means I need a quality piece of hardware to suit my needs.

In the unboxing video below you will not only see what comes in the box but also a quick demo including pairing with a phone for the first time.

Early impressions are extremely positive but you will have to wait for the full review to hear my final verdict.

Enjoy the video!

Nokia C3-01 Review

Nokia C3-01 Review Here we are again with another offering from Nokia the C3-01 Touch and Type, this is the slightly bigger brother to another recently released Nokia the X3-02 Touch and Type.

Here at tracyandmatt.co.uk we have had so many Nokia’s in for review and most of which we have liked but there have been the odd exception to the rule so is the C3-01 one of those that we don’t like? Or will it be in the liked category?

Read on for the full review.
