Sony Ericsson Xperia reviewed – In German

200802102137X1_front_1 Msmobiles.com have nicely summarised a German review of the Sony Ericsson Xperia (X1). Everything looks to be above board and worth getting excited about. Aside from the lack of the acceloremeter.

Sony Ericsson X1 is not on sale yet (delay!) but here comes yet another review of this nice phone. This is a very detailed review and nothing is left out…
This review is in German so here are some highlights:

  • power supply uses USB cable that can be used also for synchronizing with PC
  • case is made of aluminium what gives impression of high class product
  • connectors are standard-based: 3.5 mm stereo miniplug and industry-standard mini-USB
  • display has 800×480 pixels and a light sensor to save energy
  • keyboard has keeys with clear pressue point – so it is comfortable to use
  • the 3.2 megapixel camera is of very good quality and pictures are taken very quickly, without delays ; the touch-to-focus feature makes taking sharp photos easy
  • video recording is possible in VGA resolution (640×480) and 30 frames per second, but author of the review claims that Nokia phones make better videos
  • internal memory is 400 MB but microSD cards of size up to 32 GB can be used
  • no YouTube player included by Sony Ericsson in this phone! (like it is in HTC phones)
  • Opera Mobile 9.5 browser is used but there is no Flash
  • this phone has built-in GPS but no GPS software is included – only 3-month trial version of Wayfinder Navigator (on CD)
  • screen is sensitive and reacts quickly and user interface also works very fast apart from panel user interface that is slow (4 seconds of waiting for a panel to appear)
  • Sony Ericsson is in usage slower than HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch Pro und Samsung i900 Omnia, but HTC Touch HD and iPhone 3G are faster than X1
  • author finds it very dissapointing that tilt sensor (aka accelometer) is missing in this phone
  • battery offers very high capacity – 1500 mAh – and with very heavy use with cellular and WiFi usage the phone can work 2 days
