SongTweet for iPhone released – tweet your current song!

We are looking through latest apps regularly and once we notice something of interest, we report here.

In Windows XP/Vista/7, when you use Live Messenger (aka MSN Messenger) you can show in status line of the messenger: what song is currently played in Windows Media player. This app works similarly but instead of Windows it uses iPhone or iPod touch and instead of Live Messenger it uses Twitter:

Namely: in iPhone some apps do can run in the background, even if you don’t jailbreak your iPhone. One of such apps is is Apple’s own “iPod” app. So other apps, like here mentioned SongTweet can read what is being played and can use this info for something like for example tweeting it!

What are you listening to? Let the world know what music you are listening to right now! Using your twitter account. SongTweet makes this as easy and fast as it can be. No typing. Just one touch and information is uploaded to your twitter profile.

While you are listening to music using the iPod application, change to SongTweet (don’t stop or pause your iPod). Now you can send the artist and songtitle of the current song to your twitter profile! (Example of your Twitter account message: “Placebo – For What It’s Worth”)

HowTo:

Press the Home Button of your Device while listening to music. After this start SongTweet: SongTweet will automatically display the song you are currently listening to. By pressing “Tweet current song” the artist and songtitle of the current track will be uploaded to your twitter profile. After successfull upload, the cloud containing artist and title will be marked with a green border.

Notice:
– An active internet connection is required
– A Twitter account is required to use SongTweet
– Your music library has to be tagged well. When there are no tags, ther’s no information to send to Twitter.

Commentary: SongTweet is a nice little app and we reckon that it works also for podcast listening – to tweet what podcast you are listening at given moment…
