Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today raises the bar for mobile PCs with the showcase of an entirely new and advanced mobile PC. Equipped with Microsoft Windows® 7 operating system (OS) and powered by the upcoming Intel® AtomT processor platform, the Samsung TX100 maximises the benefits of a tablet PC with its compact, light, and easy to go design, as well as features that provide easy typing and enhanced productivity and performance. The display elegantly slides up and out to reveal a physical keyboard much like that of a typical notebook. However, it has the ability to use the intuitive touch display, keyboard and mouse interface as well.

“At first glance, the Samsung TX100 is a compact, light-weight tablet with multi-touch applications,” said Graham Long, Vice President of IT Solutions at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland. “However, when the display is slid into place, it reveals a physical keyboard, giving users the freedom of an intuitive touch environment and a familiar keyboard and mouse interface. The transformation of form-factor is slick and seamless. Bringing such an innovative and new device to market is an example of Samsung’s dedication to taking care of peoples unmet needs.
“The Samsung TX100 is a great example of the deep collaboration between Microsoft and Samsung, from engineering to marketing,” said Steve Guggenheimer, Corporate Vice President of the OEM Division, Microsoft Corporation. “This joint innovation delivers a unique PC design and rich mobile computing experiences for our mutual customers.”

“Innovative designs based on Intel Atom processors offer not only improved performance and sleeker devices, but also new, creative form factors,” said Doug Davis, Vice President and General Manager of the Netbook and Tablet Group at Intel. “The Samsung TX100 demonstrates how state-of-the-art form factors can help consumers stay connected, while also providing rich, immersive PC-like experiences on the go.”

The Samsung TX100 features a 10.1-inch multi-touch LCD display that supports HD resolution (1366×768) and outdoor visibility (340 nit). With its slim design and light weight, the TX100 allows for mobility without compromising functionality.
For those who prefer physical keyboards for quickly typing notes or browsing the Web, the TX100 features a full, 80/81-key keyboard sleekly tucked away under the display. At the user’s convenience, the keyboard slides completely out creating a laptop-like interface that is coupled with the touch capabilities featured on the display. The device provides the best of both worlds with an immersive touch experience and a true keyboard for maximum productivity.
With the benefits of both an immersive touch screen and sliding keyboard, users can enjoy consuming and creating content wherever they are. The TX100 is the perfect size for watching or editing video online, uploading and viewing images, reading the news or quickly writing emails.
Everyone from students to mobile workers can enjoy the convenience of Samsung’s TX100. The screen size is great for immersive activities like watching movies or social networking. In the business environment, the TX100 is just the right size for a salesman giving a presentation to a client, a construction worker viewing blueprints, or a medical professional searching for information on a patient. The device is ideal for students in an education setting because of its handy, portable nature and focus on content.

Equipped with Microsoft’s Windows® 7 operating system and the Intel Atom processor, the TX100 provides a familiar environment and comfort to users while enhancing their overall experience. It supports a range of connection channels and I/O ports, including wireless modules, USB/HDMI out via dongle, and microSD card slot.
Powered by Samsung’s solid state drive (SSD), the TX100 boots quickly so that users can access content in just a few seconds. The drive enables extended battery life so that you can enjoy life on-the-go for up to 9 hours between charges. The SSD also fully supports multi-tasking, not only in the keyboard mode, but also in touch mode.
Application Ecosystem

The TX100 comes with key pre-loaded applications that are optimised for the touch screen display. This includes Samsung’s applications for music, video, photo, note-taking, weather reports, time management and navigation. In addition, the Microsoft Bing map provides powerful tools that help users get more out of their searches, including the intuitive Bing voice search, which enables users to type with their voice to find what they’re looking for. More robust touch applications will be available via Samsung App Manager and Windows Product Scout.
The TX100 acts as a connective hub with other devices to improve the entertainment experience thanks to Samsung’s device-to-device connection solutions. Samsung AllShareT enables you to control, search, swap and play videos, photos, and music across a full range of DLNA certified Samsung devices, ranging from cameras and smart phones to TVs and PCs.
Samsung TX100 will also come with Windows® 7 Professional for enterprise consumers including collages, hospitals, and sales forces. Two models of the TX100 Series featuring SSD memory of 32GB or 64GB will be available in select markets from March, 2011.
The TX100 also comes with Microsoft Office Starter 2010 pre-installed; the package consists of basic versions of Word and Excel with the option to upgrade to a full suite at any time.
Samsung TX100 will be showcased at Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Las Vegas in January. Please visit Samsung Booth # 12006 at Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Centre.
