Samsung Galaxy S in stock and shipping

GalaxyS Last night James and I attended the Samsung Galaxy S launch event in London where not only were we treated to some hands on time with the Galaxy S but also to a star-studded event with many celebs also looking for face time with the handsets. Sadly we had no hands-on time with any celebs, but that’s another story!

The Galaxy S (i9000) is an awesome handset. It has a stunning Super AMOLED display measuring 4″ and 480 x 800 res. 1GHz CPU and 8 or 16GB of storage.

We currently have one to play with and will have a video and review here on site for you shortly. If you are already looking to buy one though then check out Clove Technology as the already have them in stock and will start shipping them this afternoon, you could have it as early as tomorrow!

Clove also have a great offer on the handset. Buy the 8GB version of the Galaxy S and they’ll throw in an 8GB microSDHC memory card for free, taking the storage to a total of 16GB! Good deal!

Overview of Samsung Galaxy S I9000 (16GB)

The I9000 Galaxy S is Samsung’s flagship Android device. The Galaxy S not only runs the latest version of Android (2.1), but packs a feature set sure to rival that of any other Smartphone.

So what sets this handset apart from other Android devices on the market? First of all there’s the 4″ SUPER-AMOLED, touch-screen display. This new Super AMOLED technology developed by Samsung not only produces an amazing picture, it also saves on battery life, making the I9000 Galaxy S ideal for media playback and in-car satellite navigation.

As well as the cutting edge display, the Galaxy S comes with 8GB internal memory, the largest internal memory storage available on an Android device to date. With MicroSD storage, an additional 32GB can also be added to the memory. In terms of media storage and playback, this takes the I9000 above and beyond top of the range portable devices such as the iPod Touch.

Power and speed are also important features of the I9000 Galaxy S. The 1GHz processor ensures that device navigation is as smooth as possible, while the 3.5G connectivity provides the fastest possible mobile-internet browsing. With download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5.76 Mbps, you’ll be able to make use of the device’s Facebook capabilities when out and about.

The Samsung I9000 also comes with an impressive Camera. Besides that of the Sony XPERIA X10, which packs an astonishing 8MP Camera, this is the highest spec camera seen in an Android device to date. The Galaxy S has a 5MP camera with auto-focus, capable of recording 720p video footage at 30 frames per second.

The other features of the I9000 Galaxy S at a glance are a 3.5mm headphone connection, Bluetooth 3.0, quad-band connectivity, Swype text input, Wi-Fi, FM Radio and compatibility with the vast majority of media types.

The large internal storage, combined with the Super AMOLED touch screen display, social-networking capability and access to the Android market place makes the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S a more than worthy competitor to other high-end devices such as the iPhone 3GS and HTC Desire.
