You might well be looking at this and asking the question "what exactly is this". Well let me answer it for you. This is the roadmap for Nokia phones through 2008 / 20009 and there are indeed some very interesting devices mentioned in there.

Notable goodies include the "Corolla" with a 3-inch VGA display, the "Jig" landscape slider for AT&T, and the "Eitri," a monster QWERTY candybar with a 640×350 display and 5-megapixel camera.

I’m sure you will have as much fun googling everything on here as I did.

Pretty impressive leak even if I do say!

Rumour – Nokia Wahoo Spotted

After the promising leak of the Nokia smartphone roadmap earlier today, we have more hot news for you, this time with photos. Codenamed Wahoo, the new Nokia flip phone stands out with its half QWERTY keypad and built-in aGPS. The new Symbian smartphone looks similar to the BlackBerry Pearl Flip in terms of design and will be released exclusively for AT&T in US.

The quad-band Nokia Wahoo will support dual-band HSDPA and have a 2 MP camera with flash, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, 80 MB user memory and microSD card slot. Quite naturally for a flip phone, it will have two displays – an internal 16M QVGA 2.2" TFT display and an external 256K TFT 1.36" with a 128×160 resolution.

The Wahoo flip is not among the slimmest flip phones, as its dimensions are 100 x 52 x 17 mm and 115 grams weight. There is no information on the phone pricing or availability.

However judging on the full Nokia smartphone roadmap, that we reported recently, the Nokia Wahoo may just as well be already cancelled.

HTC Touch HD – Only on Orange?

We received a mail today from one of our long time readers David Davis advising us that the HTC Touch HD will be available only on the Orange Network. As yet I don’t have the source of this leak but you can be 100% certain that I will be working through my contacts over at HTC to see what I can find out.

HTC Touch HD
HTC Touch HD

If this pans out to be the case then I’m sure Orange will consider themselves very lucky indeed considering that the past 2 BIG handsets to be snapped up by a single operator have sold extremely well to date (G1 & iPhone).

If you have news leaks just like that or you would just like to tell us something then why not mail [email protected]  or [email protected] and we will make sure to give you credit when posting on the blog.

EDIT: seems that the info. we’ve been given might be duff! We did contact HTC this morning but they refused to comment on the HTC Touch HD, simple saying that it would be available sim-free but had no information about operator deals. We’re trying to get to the bottom of this now!

EDIT 2: Sources at Orange are no suggesting that the Touch HD will be exclusive to Orange for three months. You should still be able to purchase the Touch HD sim-free from your favourite HCT retailer but the only operator to carry it initially will be Orange followed by the other networks three months later.

EDIT 3: For those of you that doubted it – you might want to have a look at this leaked Orange Press release!

Nokia 7110 Slide – Rumour

Havine never really seen this announced anywhere it seems like the Nokia 7110 slide is set out to cover Nokia’s getting to be old midrange phones. With features including a 1.3 MP camera, MicroSD slot, and FM radio this tri-band GSM/Edge phone is rumoured to cost around 200 euro although this does seem a massively high for a device with such low end specs.

Nokia 7110 Slide Photo’s

I believe that if the price was dropped and the phone was released before Christmas it might actually do not bad but knowing Nokia there will be a lot more to come before the release of this one.

HTC T8290 Rumoured

Paul over at MoDaCo has just posted an article on the new HTC T8290

HTC T8290 HTC T8290 HTC T8290

HTC T8290 HTC T8290

My my, HTC do have their fingers in a lot of pies wink.gif
Below are the first images of a device that appears to be called the ‘T8290’ and is packing WiMAX, destined for the Russian Yota WiMAX network.
We can see the device features:
– WinMo 6.1 Professional
– 3.8" WVGA (800×480) screen
– Inbuilt phone, WiMAX, Bluetooth and WiFi
Amazingly the design seems to be even more minimalist that the Touch HD! smile.gif No deets on whether this packs the same 5 Megapixel camera of course, but there is a camera of some description on there. We’ll be digging around for more info and will update this post as and when – watch this space! smile.gif
Given HTC’s recent announcement that the Touch HD will not be available stateside, could this give a hint as to why? Will we see the T8290 coming to Sprint’s ‘Xohm‘ network?

Now I’m really not sure what this means but it does indeed look like an HTC device that has not been photo shopped. It always amazes me how these devices leek so commonly but I for one am glad they do and only wish that someone would leak something new to us more often.

WM 7 Delayed?

Partners who had expected to have a final release of WM7 in their hands by early next year have been told now that the new Windows Mobile platform won’t be ready until the second half of next year.

Definitely bad news because Windows Mobile urgently need its refresh and if Windows Mobile 7 is postponed to the second half of 2009, it’s most likely that we will not see devices before end of 2009. Nevertheless, every bad news also have a positive aspect and in this case it means you don’t have to hold out for a new device and you can go out and get your new i900 Omnia, Touch Diamond, Touch Pro or Touch HD today because based on this news it will be the latest for the next 12 months at least.

New Sony Ericsson phone?

Pictures of a new Sony Ericsson Walkman phone have appeared, and it shows a slider phone in the same vein as the super-slim W880i.

The guys over at the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog have uncovered the pic, and we’re sorry to say there’s very little we can report in terms of specs.

Sony Ericsson Rika?

All I can say at this time is that it looks like it will have GPS, a 3.2 MP Camera and judging by the front facing camera, we can guess 3G connectivity is pretty likely too.

Again with most of my posts today, watch this space and see when becomes of this.

Nokia considering Windows Mobile?

According to a number of stories circulating on the web and through the Windows Mobile forums and blog sites, Nokia and Microsoft are currently ‘in talks’ and are believed to be discussing the possibility of Nokia using the WM platform on their mobiles.

Microsoft’s mobile communications business international marketing director John Starkweather confirmed talks were taking place with Nokia but would not confirm when any announcement would be made.

“They obviously have significant investments in Symbian but there are a lot of places where we have significant synergies and we would love to see the day where those synergies would extend completely with Windows Mobile,”

Interestingly, Windows Mobile currently only has just over 6% of the smartphone operating system market compared to more than 70% for Symbian. However, it is gaining acceptance among smartphone manufacturers such as HTC and Samsung that have released Windows Mobile based handsets.

If Nokia do decide to take Windows Mobile it should mean that WM is made available to many, many more people which could lead to more money in the develoment pot which would hopefully lead to better WM software and more developers out there!

Microsoft Zune Phone?

Could there be a mobile phone future for Microsofts Zune?

Microsoft Zunephone

Rumours currently circulating the web suggest that a Zune Phone could be available sooner rather than later

Chris Stephenson, GM for Zune, told the press, “A Zune phone is definitely part of the future of this brand.”

Looks interesting but lets hope that it’s not just a reworked version of a bog standard WM5 device.
