Dailymotion launches iPhone app

Dailymotion is the only online video upload service that is located in European Union (in France to be precise) so we are happy to report that they have released an iPhone app recently:

Dailymotion, one of the largest Web video sites in the world, today announced the launch of the Dailymotion iPhone app with both content channels and extended capabilities for creating and enjoying mobile video.

The new Dailymotion iPhone and iPod Touch App brings the unprecedented ability to enjoy the full functionality of the main website. Dailymotion’s user-friendly iPhone application gives users the ability to search from a library of over 12 million videos. Viewers can also surf within 14 themed channels such as Music, Film & TV, Funny and Sports & Extreme or discover the latest viral hits. The application also gives the ability to easily share videos with friends as well as to access and manage Dailymotion user accounts. 3Gs iPhone users will even have the ability to record and upload videos straight from the handset to their Dailymotion accounts. The Dailymotion app builds on the site’s history as having launched one of the first iPhone Web video sites in 2007.

Given Dailymotion’s global popularity, the iPhone application will be available in 9 different languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, and Greek). Users will also have the choice of two versions – a free, ad-supported model and an ad-free model available for $5.99 directly from Apple’s App Store on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iTunes.

“Our users love iPhones! We are delighted to offer them these new apps which provide the full Dailymotion experience in their favorite environment,” said Joy Marcus, General Manager of Dailymotion US. “We are quite sure they will have a lot of fun.”
