The Motorola RAZR i with a 2GHz processor is announced

RAZR i

Sept. 18, 2012 – Motorola Mobility in partnership with Intel Corporation introduced the powerful MOTOROLA RAZR i with Intel Inside®: the new full-screen smartphone that fits in the palm of your hand. Its Super AMOLED Advanced 4.3-inch display spans from edge-to-edge with virtually no border – giving you more screen with less phone. RAZR i is the first smartphone that can achieve speeds of 2.0 GHz thanks to a fast Intel® Atom processor. Jump from a game to a text and over to a playlist, then off to browse the Web – all without stopping and on a long-lasting battery that is 40 percent more powerful than the competition.

The power of Intel Inside means you also get an instant-launch 8-megapixel camera that can load in less than a second. Just use the dedicated camera key so you get the shot you want. When there’s action involved, multi-shot mode lets you snap 10 pictures in less than a second. And with the illuminated sensor located on the back and High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities, you’ll get a great shot, even in challenging lighting conditions.

“Together with Intel, we’re redefining what people can expect from a mobile device. A camera that launches in an instant, Web pages that load blazingly fast and a device that’s the perfect balance of screen size and fit in hand,” said Jim Wicks, senior vice president, Consumer Experience Design, Motorola Mobility. “RAZR i delivers just that when you put an Intel-fast processor in a beautifully designed phone and add in extra long battery life.”

“Motorola RAZR i with Intel Inside naturally blends together the value propositions of high performance Intel Architecture and great battery life, Motorola Mobility device innovation and the Android platform,” said Erik Reid, general manager, Intel’s Mobile and Communications Group. “Intel’s goal is to provide compelling technology options that translate into great user benefits and experiences. RAZR i is a great proofpoint in the collaboration and we’re thrilled to be working with Motorola to bring this edge-to-edge experience enhanced with Intel Inside to people around the world.”

The 22-inch Viewsonic Android Tablet

ViewSonic-VSD220We have mentioned on the podcast before the oddity of a 22-inch Viewsonic Android Tablet. Obviously, the idea of a giant Android tablet was both ridiculously cool and ridiculously impractical. As it turns out, the concept device didn’t actually end up as a tablet. ViewSonic wizened up and ditched the internal battery of the device. Now it is simply the ViewSonic 22-inch Android VSD220 Smart Display, and will be hitting US retail stores in October at a price of $399.99.

This thing is basically just an Android powered monitor, which really takes on a whole different dimension if you think about it. Some future evolution of this beast could basically replace the desktop computer completely. In fact, for some users, this specific device itself could do that already. Here’s a spec/feature breakdown followed by a press release:

  • 1,920 x 1080 full HD screen that is touch-enabled
  • Dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4428 processor
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage
  • A micro HDMI port
  • Three USB ports
  • A microSD card slot
  • Ethernet
  • A 1.2MP webcam with integrated microphone

Fighting fire with fire Samsung Vs Apple

apple-vs-samsung1According to a late breaking story from last night, Samsung isn’t messing around with their counter-attack on Apple. Insider sources are claiming, Samsung will sue Apple for violating its LTE patents with the iPhone 5 just as the phone is announced tomorrow. Here’s the quote,

Quote:

"It’s true that Samsung Electronics has decided to take immediate legal action against the Cupertino-based Apple. Countries in Europe and even the United States ? Apple’s home-turf ? are our primary targets,” said an industry source.
