8000 Samsung Galaxy S3’s stolen!

SGS3

According to mobilenewscwp some bad dudes have stolen 8000 of Samsungs SGS3’s from distributor RP Europe, worth over £2.2 million.

One source said: “RP Europe has fallen victim at a time when handset demand is high. While the firm is undoubtedly insured, its cash flow will be hit for the immediate period.”

Another said: “Distributors are on alert for cheap stock but the likelihood is they have already been sold abroad.”

Although neither RP Europe or Thames Valley Police have made official comments it is believed that the smartphones were stolen while in transit which unfortunately happens way to often here in the UK.

Let’s hope the robbers are caught and the theft doesn’t affect stock levels at retailers.

HTC One X+ unboxing and first impressions

htc-one-x--fronton-black_4

HTC’s latest offering, the One X+ arrived at tracyandmatt towers the other day and what a beauty it is too. Clearly the device is a new and improved version of the already successful One X but we do now get some beefed up specs.

Take the wonderful 1.7GHz quad-core processor for example – this thing is speedy. Combined with a glorious 8MP camera, full HD video and running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean I suspect the One X+ could be a big seller for HTC.

You can see our first impressions video below and we will be following up with a full video review later in the week.

EE 4G LTE – Are you going to upgrade? We’re going speed testing.

ee-logo2

With the roll out of EE’s 4G network to 11 major cities in the UK many mobile customers will be wondering if it is worth upgrading to a 4G plan, or even a switch from their current carrier to EE just to benefit from the super fast data connection.

The EE price plans and data allowances are not quite as good as I thought they would be but depending on what you use your smartphone for may well dictate if 4G is for you or not.

So to help you make up your mind I am going on a mission. Next week I will be in possession of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 from EE and I shall be travelling around the London area and outskirts where they say they have LTE coverage performing speed tests.

We clearly know from already testing the service at a recent event in London that the speeds are really impressive but what I want to establish is if they are consistent or if now that the service has rolled out to the public if speeds are being affected by the number of users now on 4G.

So watch out next week for our 4G speed test results. It should be pretty interesting.

EE are clearly proud of their work this week

ee-logo

In a statement tonight from EE, Marc Allera, Chief Sales Officer says:

“This has been a tremendous week, and we are hugely proud to be pioneering the UK’s first 4G mobile and fibre broadband network.

“We’ve seen an outstandingly positive response to the EE brand and the introduction of our superfast 4G and fibre services. In line with expectations we’ve already connected thousands of consumers and businesses to our new 4G and Fibre Broadband plans, with fantastic customer interest.

“And this is just the start. We’re investing every day to make our 4G coverage stronger and wider. EE engineers are busy increasing 4G coverage by over 2,000 square miles every month, as well as continuing to strengthen our 4G network for customers in EE’s launch cities.

“By the time other 4G services launch, possibly in the middle of next year, our customers will already  have been enjoying an unrivalled 4G experience on a wide range of exciting devices across the UK for many months.”
