Huawei E355 3G+ WiFi Modem & Router unboxing video

huawei-e355-3g-hspa wifi-usb-internet-modem-unlocked Huawei have a great track record when it comes to 3G dongles and WiFi devices. This latest E355 model is among the smallest on the market.

The Huawei E355 is a 3G dongle plus Wi-Fi modem and router, giving you your own personal Wi-Fi hotspot. Just pop a SIM card into the E355 and connect it to a USB power source and your away. Up to five devices can connect to it simultaneously and there is no connection manager or complex start up procedure. This means you don’t need a PC or laptop to use it, just slot it into a USB power adapter to plug it into a wall socket for when you’re at home or in the office. You can even attach a microSD card (up to 32GB) into the E355 to use it as a USB stick. It’s very portable too, shorter than a packet of sweets (9cm) and weighs 40g.

Check out the quick unbox below to see what it looks like and if you want to pick one up, head over to eXpansys, they’re on offer at just £69.99 at the moment!

Unless you were asleep yesterday you will be aware that Apple announced the iPhone 5. If you are planning to get one, and i’m sure one or two of you may here’s the run down of the full specs.

On a personal note – I wasn’t particually excited with the resuluts. Yes, it is bigger but it is still an iPhone. I shall be holding off getting one in anticipation for BlackBerry 10 in Q1 2013. Matt will get the iPhone though so expect his full review in the coming weeks.

The 22-inch Viewsonic Android Tablet

ViewSonic-VSD220We have mentioned on the podcast before the oddity of a 22-inch Viewsonic Android Tablet. Obviously, the idea of a giant Android tablet was both ridiculously cool and ridiculously impractical. As it turns out, the concept device didn’t actually end up as a tablet. ViewSonic wizened up and ditched the internal battery of the device. Now it is simply the ViewSonic 22-inch Android VSD220 Smart Display, and will be hitting US retail stores in October at a price of $399.99.

This thing is basically just an Android powered monitor, which really takes on a whole different dimension if you think about it. Some future evolution of this beast could basically replace the desktop computer completely. In fact, for some users, this specific device itself could do that already. Here’s a spec/feature breakdown followed by a press release:

  • 1,920 x 1080 full HD screen that is touch-enabled
  • Dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4428 processor
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage
  • A micro HDMI port
  • Three USB ports
  • A microSD card slot
  • Ethernet
  • A 1.2MP webcam with integrated microphone

Fighting fire with fire Samsung Vs Apple

apple-vs-samsung1According to a late breaking story from last night, Samsung isn’t messing around with their counter-attack on Apple. Insider sources are claiming, Samsung will sue Apple for violating its LTE patents with the iPhone 5 just as the phone is announced tomorrow. Here’s the quote,

Quote:

"It’s true that Samsung Electronics has decided to take immediate legal action against the Cupertino-based Apple. Countries in Europe and even the United States ? Apple’s home-turf ? are our primary targets,” said an industry source.

Will Everything Everywhere announce a date for the LTE roll out tomorrow?

Everything_Everywhere_logo

I’m off to a meeting tomorrow morning to hook up with some of the Everything Everywhere team. The question is what will they tell us. Chances are it will be regarding the 4G LTE roll out but with the iPhone 5 launching very soon could the network be up and running in time for the new iPhone. If so I suspect it would give iPhone sales a little boost not to mention the fact that Orange and T-Mobile will pick up a load of new customers.

So tune back in tomorrow when hopefully we will be allowed to let you know the latest news.
