Samsung Galaxy S demo video

galaxy-video A few days ago I got my hands on the Samsung Galaxy S and recorded a brief unboxing video for you. Having used the handset a little more now I thought it was time to record another video showing of some of the features and installed applications.

So in the video below (presented in HD) we’ll have a look at the setting up a WiFi connection, the web browser, Google Maps, Gmail and SWYPE. For those of you that don’t know SWYPE is a different kind of text entry method, take a look at the video to see how that works.

James and I will be jointly working on the Galaxy S review so please do comment via the forum if you have an questions about the handset and if there is anything specific you want us to make sure we cover.

HTC Wildfire unboxing video

Wildfire-main We first Heard about the HTC Wildfire last month and James was lucky enough to be invited to the HTC press briefing and get his hands on the device even getting time to review a preview video.

Since then the Wildfire has been gathering interest and many now regard this as being the HTC Desire’s baby brother and when you see the HTC Wildfire it’s probably easy to understand why.

The HTC Wildfire is smaller than the Desire, having a 3.2″ QVGA display. There’s also a slower CPU but othe features are similar such as Android 2.1 with Sense UI, 5 Megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth. On the face of it the HTC Wildfire might seem like HTC’s attempt to win the lower end of the Android handset market and at a little under £230 they seem to have the price about right but have not overly compromised the specification.

We’ll have a full review for you over the next week or so, we’re going to do something a little different with this review so watch this space! For now I hope you enjoy seeing a little more of the HTC Wildfire in the video below. I’ll also have a more detailed demo video for you soon too.

Samsung Galaxy S unboxing video

GALAXY S image 4 of 5 A few days ago I mentioned that we’d got our hands on the new Samsung Galaxy S and I’ve just managed to record an unboxing and (brief) demo video for you.

I commented on it a few times during the video but I have to once again say that the Super AMOLED screen on the Galaxy S is truly stunning, the video and photos don’t do it justice and words certainly cant either. All I can say is that it’s is incredibly bright and colourful and you have to see it with your own eyes to appreciate it!

In the video below you’ll get to see the handset in some detail and I take you on a brief tour of the operating system. I’ll be back with a more detailed demo soon too.

iPhone 4 pricing – The story so far

iphone_4_verizon

Unless you have had your head in the sand you will know that the iPhone 4 is being released on the 24th. With all the UKs main networks, and also some smaller ones, selling the new phone the big question will be which one to buy from.

I have just stumbled upon a price comparison of the networks that have already released their prices and as you will see below it’s a pretty close call on who will offer the best value. We have still yet to see what T-Mobile, 3, Tesco and Virgin Mobile will charge but I cant imagine it being much different to the already announced prices, although I am sure that 3 will try and undercut.

So will the price determine who you go with or will you just stick with your current carrier? We would love to hear your thoughts over on the forum.

As soon as we get further prices we will be sure to let you know.

Vodafone UK Customers: How’s your signal today?

voda

You’ve probably seen the Vodafone network map or may have visited the network hub here to check out the Vodafone coverage in your area or learn more about the network.

Because Vodafone want to ensure you’re getting the best coverage, they have now created a real-time coverage map at http://vodafoneuksignal.com so you can tell them what’s happening with your mobile signal, where you are, now.

There are two ways you can tell them:

Iphone 4 tarrifs in one place

screen

O2, Orange and Vodafone seem to have finalised their tarrifs for the iPhone 4. There isn’t too big of a difference between most models but when it comes to getting the phone free then things can get a little tricky. Thankfully the pricing models are similar enough that you can just pick from the network that gives you the best service!

BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 Review

BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 Review-mainThe BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 is one of a few new BlackBerry smart phones we should see this year. The 9105 is pretty unique though. As far as I am aware this is the first BlackBerry with a traditional style keypad. Yes, three letters on each key.

It is however a spin off of the 9100 which also has just been released overseas but this one has two letters per key like we have seen before on BlackBerry Pearls.

It is only the 9105 we will see here in the UK and this is clearly to offer people using a feature phone the opportunity to upgrade to a BlackBerry without them having to use a full Qwerty keyboard which does put some people off.

Is the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 a worthy contender up against all the other dozens of devices out there with a standard keyboard?

Read on to find out.
