iOS 7.0.4 Rolls Out

imageJust a few weeks after Apple release the update to iOS 7.0.3 there’s another version being pushed out to devices this evening.

iOS 7.0.4 has just been made available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and promises to fix a known issue with FaceTime which caused FaceTime calls to fail for some users. Personally hadn’t seen this problem.

Along with the FaceTime fix a number of other minor bugs are fixes with this update but we’ve yet to get to the bottom of what they are!

Bug fixes and improvements, including a fix for an issue that causes FaceTime calls to fail for some users.

For information on the security content of this update, please visit this website: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222

Meanwhile, Apple has also released iOS 6.1.5 for fourth-generation iPod touch users. That iOS 6 update is designed to fix the FaceTime bug on the non-iOS 7 capable iPod touch.

If you are interested in the possibility of Jailbreaking your phone at some point in the future, the Jailbreak experts are warning that you should stay away from the 7.0.4 update for now.

BlackBerry Not Working on iPad Specific BBM

bbm-iphoneSince BlackBerry resumed the BBM roll-out to iOS and Android devices, it has been downloaded tens of millions of times and has been consistently at the top of the app download charts.

BlackBerry recently spoke to Slashgear and Andrew Bocking confirmed that BlackBerry are working on a new version of BBM specifically for WiFi-only iPod’s and iPad’s. At the moment users must have a cellular capable device in order to register and set up BBM. This is a situation that BlackBerry are looking to resolve and the update is said to be coming any time now. This will mean that BBM does not have to be tied to a specific mobile number.

However, there’s no news from BlackBerry for WiFi only versions of BBM for WiFi only Android tablets but one would hope that if there’s to be an iPad and iPod WiFi version then an Android version should not be too far behind.

No iPad specific BBM

Perhaps one piece of news that may disappoint iPad owners, though, is that BlackBerry are said NOT to be working on an iPad specific version of BBM, one that would make better use of the larger display. At the moment BBM will work on iPad devices but just a larger version of the iPhone version. iPad users have been hoping for an iPad specific version that was more akin to the interface and layout from the PlayBook.

Hopefully BlackBerry will change their mind!

Retina iPad mini goes on sale

Retina iPad miniJust three weeks after Apple’s big iPad event, the Retina iPad mini has at last gone on sale on Apple’s website.

During the event we were introduced to the Retina iPad mini, an updated version of the existing mini but with, obviously the Retina 7.9″ 2048×1536 display, the new A7 and M7 chips and MiMo technology.

At the time of the event Apple said that the new mini would be on sale ‘later in November’. Many naysayers believed that Apple’s supply of Retina screens was in such constraint that the actual on-sale date would get pushed back. Seemingly Apple have silenced those critics today.

Apple bringing two All-new iPhone’s next year

iphone-6According to Bloomberg, Apple will be releasing two brand new iPhone designs next year. One to have a 4.7 and the other to have a 5.5 inch display.

In the report posted by Bloomberg yesterday, the new devices will not only have larger displays but they will also have curved glass.

Certainly it would make sense for Apple to release larger phones as many of their competitors have already released phones in sizes up to and over 6 inches. With these larger screen sizes I would also hope that we’ll at last see a 1080×1920 full HD display from apple, where again many competitors are already there and playing keep-up is not a game Apple likes to play.

The report also suggests that Apple are working on pressure sensitive screens that will allow greater control and varied line thickness when drawing for example. If you’re looking for a great phone repair shop for your phone, check out iPhone Battery Replacement Gold Coast.

Sony’s new 3D headset now available

sony-hmz-t3w,U-V-404167-1Most are getting excited about the Oculus Rift and rightly so as they have recently announced Android compatibility. However, Sony has now made available the third generation of Sony’s HMZ headset line, following the HMZ-T1 (2011) and the HMZ-T2 (2012). The wireless head-mounted device provides two HD OLED screens generating a virtual 750 inch screen from 65 feet away, allowing users to enjoy 2D and 3D content with virtual 7.1 surround sound.
The device is lighter than the previous models, and provides flexible headbands, improved padding, and a tethered “battery box” providing around three hours on a single charge, dumping the required AC connection in the previous models. The device also supports MHL, meaning it can recharge a compatible smartphone or tablet while the device is transmitting video and audio over the same connection. Only costing mere $1000.

“The Sony HMZ-T3W portable 3D viewer keeps serious gamers in the game with speedy responses from its twin OLED screens and no annoying on-screen image lag,” reads Sony’s press release. “A one-touch button instantly boosts contrast and enhances shape details (game-mode), allowing gamers to relish the competitive edge in dimly-lit scenes where danger’s always lurking. Plus, there is no fumbling for the right keys in mid-game – the ergonomic visor-style headset gives an unobstructed ‘look-down’ view of your PC’s keyboard and mouse while you play.”
