The Xperia X1 is a new phone from Sony Ericsson powered by Windows Mobile 6.1. It has amazing build quality and is smaller than I expected from seeing the press shots and other reviews. For me this device is for keeps and I am very happy for it to replace my HTC Touch Diamond and keep me away from iPhone 2G.
Full review after the break.
Windows Mobile Italy broke the news a few weeks back of a new Samsung Windows Mobile device which would be running on the Standard (non touchscreen) flavour of Windows Mobile. Now they have got hold of a couple of live pictures of the phone. Check them out after the break. Specs wise it is nothing special and only supports HSDPA on the 2100 band and has a QVGA screen.
Treo Cental noticed last week over at Palm Addicts via Mike Cane’s Blog that Apple wanted to purchase Palm back in the summer of 1997. Cane posted a link to an article entitled “Android: First Impressions” by Jean-Louis Gassée over at Monday Note.
SPB Traveler 2.0 provides a service that is invaluable to anyone who spends most of their time traveling from country to country. The market is somewhat awash with this form of software most of which offers the same setup. Full review after the break.
The Register is reporting an exclusive that Carphone Warehouse looks set to give away free smartphones running Windows Mobile 7 with copies of the upcoming Windows 7 PC operating system. A phone manufacturer source familiar with the phone retailer’s plans told them that the Windows Mobile 7 phone and Windows 7 bundle boxes will be released on the same day that the new desktop OS is launched in the UK, which he said could come during September or October 2009.
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, a leading producer of mobile phones, today announced the Korean market launch of “T*OMNIA”, the Korean version of “Samsung OMNIA”. Samsung OMNIA, renamed as “T*OMNIA”, will be available from mid-November under exclusive deal with SK telecom, the largest mobile operator in Korea. Compared to the original Samsung OMNIA, “T*OMNIA” will have upgraded 3.3” WVGA touch screen (480×800) and added Satellite DMB function, an essential feature for Korean users who would like to enjoy Mobile TV and internet with their mobile phones any time, anywhere.
The Dutch seem to have hit it lucky this weekend and managed to get their hands on the hottest device in Windows Mobile history. We have three videos after the break showing Video and Audio Quality, TouchFlo 3D and finally Opera Mobile 9.5. If your sick of hearing about the Touch HD or from the USA we apologise but it is one exciting device. Videos after the break.
Finding a beta copy of Windows upcoming reinvention of their operating system is fairly simple however some clever chappies have decided it would be interesting/manic to test it on an Eee PC 1000h with some rather positive results. There is an interesting article over at Laptopmag to chronicle the caper.
Thanks to the guys at wmpoweruser for the heads up on this, now you can download the manual for the HTC Touch HD, we have the link right here and I am downloading it now to get myself familiar with anything new ready for receiving mine next week. XDA-Developers also have a very interesting thread going on where you can read and ask questions from a member who has his Touch HD already.
