A warning for all who are interested in buying an Amazon Kindle for a loved/liked one this Christmas, don’t open it when it arrives. As you might not expect from a lump of technology the box it arrives in, through the post, is the actual packaged unit. Have a look as the pictures submitted by a friend Paul. Paul has now opened his wife’s present. He will have to tape it up and hope she does not notice. Cool move Amazon.
Gareth and Andy are joined by James from the road and Uncle Travelling Matt in Florida for your weekly dosage of mobile nonsense. This week Matt has reviewed the Desire Z and manages to phone in for a whine about Orange and some alarming banter with James. Gareth satisfies his Android tablet fix for the week. Andy kicks up about the networks and seems almost positive about the Pre 2. James fades in an out as his 3G and wifi connection in a distant English town fail him time and time again.

As the netbook era seems to be drawing to a close Toshiba manages to squeeze out one last option for your mobile computing needs. Sandwiched between the oldie but goodie, NB200 and the king of the heap, NB305, the NB250 lurks in the background like a ninja. Is it Batman, ready for action or Karate dressed in black (that’s an obscure Batfink reference by the way?)

What better way to get your point across at a strike than by nailing you beloved iPad to a 2×4 and having a protest presentation running. Those clever Russians, you can imagine the thought process. My pay sucks, there is a protest, there must be a app for that!
Andy is back this week with a new sexy voice for unknown reasons. James unboxes he HTC HD7 and put the finishing touches to his Blackberry 9870 review. Gareth gets excited about a new Nokia concept and a bargain from Tesco. Andy rants about Vodafone and well. everything else he can thinks of. Matt goes on holiday with Rachel and hopefully Tracy.

The Archos 101 is a much anticipated Android tablet. Whilst Samsung occupy the high end of the market with the £500 Galaxy Tab and an endless slew of cheap and nasty tablets invade from every other company looking to make a buck Archos focuses on a mid-range that is going to appeal to the majority.
The 101 is named as such due to it’s huge WXVGA 10.1″ LCD screen. the device boast quite an eye catching spec list including a front facing webcam, Android 2.2 Froyo (not implemented yet), 1ghz processor, 3D openGL, 8 or 16gb on-board storage, video and audio codecs for pretty much everything and a handy kickstand.
Have a look at the extended unboxing below and keep your eye peeled for further video demos in the future. I shall be leaving the review until 2.2 Froyo arrives in the next couple of weeks.
This week James and Gareth take on the latest mobile news. Matt and Andy are AWOL and if found please exterminate immediately. James has reviewed the Desire HD and he’s playing with the Bold 9780. Gareth is trying to get his teeth around a massive Android tablet and fathom is Sony is taking the PSP in the right direction.

Apparently Google is working on a new own-brand Android phone and might be available this year, exclusively at The Carphone Warehouse.
While the Google Nexus One is currently available exclusively through a Vodafone, its successor will be released through one single retailer. An “industry source” said that, after experiencing issues with selling the Nexus One through its website, it wants to put the Nexus Two in an actual bricks and mortar shop.
Terrific news for the UK given the heavy import duty that was demanded when initially purchasing the Nexus One on release however in the hands of The Carphone Warehouse there is still a chance they might demand a kidney in exchange for the device.
It’s as yet unclear which manufacturer has been enlisted to built the Google Nexus Two, although Samsung seems to have been discounted for some reason. Little too is known about the phone’s specs and features, although Android Gingerbread seems the likely operating system.
