Toshiba Portégé G900 size comparison

Over the past few days I’ve had several emails from readers asking to see the Toshiba G900 alongside other devices for a size comparison. It would seem that a number of you are looking at the G900 more for its screen and web browsing abilities rather than as a phone and want to know how it stacks up against the Nokia N800 for example.

G900 vs M700 vs N800

G900 vs N800 vs M700

As you can see in the shots above, the Toshiba G900 is a lot smaller than the Nokia N800 whilst being significantly larger than the Orange M700. Both the G900 and N800 have the same screen resolution but the N800 has greater physical dimensions.

If you are looking for a device purely to browse the internet then the N800 is a decent option but one thing you’ll have to consider is that it’s WiFi or Bluetooth only, it doesnt have a SIM card, cant make phone calls and cant connect to the internet on its own.

The G900 has a physically smaller screen, but the same resolution and can make phone calls as well as connect to the internet via GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA.

Our review of both the N800 and G900 will be online shortly!

Netgear SPH200D Dual-Mode Phone with Skype

A few days ago I told you about our new Netgear SPH101 Skype WiFi phone but yesterday we got our hands on a new Netgear SPH200D Dual-Mode Phone with Skype.

    Netgear SPH200D

    Netgear SPH200D

The Netgear SPH200D combines Skype’s VoIP calling facilities with regular ‘land line’ a based phone both of which work over a DECT connection from handset to base station.

Set up is extremely simple: Plug the Dual-mode Cordless Phone Station into your Internet router (Ethernet port) to make your Skype calls and plug the base station into your phone line (PSTN) wall jack to make land line calls—from the same cordless phone.

It’ll take us a little while to put the review together so here is the unboxing video that you have probably all become accustomed to!

Our intial tests with the Netgear SPH200D look good, so far we have not had any problems with it and call quality seems about perfect but we’ll have more for you soon.

For anyone wishing to contact us via Skype you can do so via our Skype username: tracyandmatt or using our Skype-in phone number: 0208 123 3757. We are always happy to hear from our readers!

The Netgear SPH200D can be purchased from eXpansys.
