Samsung i8910 HD demo

image So it looks like Orange have decided to get in on the blogging action and are now regularly producing their own unboxing and phone demo videos. Not sure that this is a good thing as they are obviously selling the phones they are talking about so you must bare that in mind when watching.

This one is the Orange exclusive Samsung i8910 which is the much hyped Omnia HD, you know the one that can capture 720p video. What we find strange is how this phone exploded onto the scene at MWC 09 but the launch has been anything but hyped. Video after the break.

Palm Pre review by Boy Genius Report

Well looks like the first proper review of the Palm Pre has now been posted. We knew that BGR had got their hands on one after we saw some photos a few days back. They have now posted up a review which to be fair is going to be more of a first impression than a complete review as they have only had it a few days but all the signs are positive. Take a look after the break for a few snippets.

More webOS details unveiled at All Things Digital

image Taking the stage as the grand finale at the “D: All Things Digital” conference today, Palm’s executive chairman Jon Rubinstein and Elevation Partners’ managing director and co-founder Roger McNamee celebrated the excitement surrounding webOS by sharing a few new details about the hotly awaited platform.

In an onstage conversation with Walt Mossberg, personal technology reporter for The Wall Street Journal (which produces D) and veteran technology reporter Kara Swisher, Jon and Roger shared details about Palm media sync, a webOS feature that synchronizes seamlessly with iTunes to easily transfer DRM-free music, photos, and videos to your Palm Pre. Media sync complements other methods for getting media onto Pre, including USB file transfer and WiFi downloads from the Amazon MP3 store.

Zune HD video hands on

We don’t normally cover portable music players on MTA but we are interested in the just announced Zune HD mainly because it may give us some pointers to how Windows Mobile 7 may look. Well if it does it is going to look pretty sweet, especially with the multi-touch and capacitive goodness added to the screen.

Gizmodo have got some brief hands on time with a pre-release Zune HD and we have the video after the break.

Nokia N97 review by Techradar

The nokia n97The guys over at Techradar have managed to get their hands on the Nokia N97 for a second time, the first time was way back in January. This time it is still obviously a pre release version but they report that things are coming along quite nicely.

There have been some criticisms levelled at the processor, which is a single ARM 11 CPU, clocking around 434Mhz, and it seemed that certain elements of the phone struggled with such an underpowered effort.

Also compared to the Touch Pro2 that we looked at yesterday, we have to say that keyboard looks somewhat cheap and nasty, we shall see.

You can read the full write up over at Techradar.

Android 2.0 Donut demo video

image Google demonstrated some of the features they’ve been working on for Android OS 2.0 Donut while at I/O 2009, and thanks to Android Community, we’ve got video from the keynote to show you those changes in action.  One of the biggest differences to 1.5 Cupcake is “Android Search”, which is the catch-all name for the platform’s new universal searching that queries contacts, calendars, music and online information. Take a look at the video after the break.

HTC Touch Pro2 unboxing video

It doesn’t seem like long ago that I was all excited and telling you about the latest HTC Touch Diamond2 that I’d managed to get my hands on. However this week something else turned up at tracyandmatt towers that I think could be even better! I am of course referring to the eagerly awaited HTC Touch Pro2. I’ve been a fan of the HTC TyTN II for a long time and in fact I still have my original TyTN II and I use it now and then but almost 2 years on it looks and feels a bit old and the Pro2 is the obvious replacement. The Touch Pro just didn’t do it for me!

The HTC Touch Pro2

So here we have the now customary unboxing video. Note that this is the full UK retail model. As we had such great feedback from Piero’s HTC Touch Diamond2 review we’ve passed the handset over to him for review. He’ll be putting it through its paces for about a week to give it a good real-world test so please be patient. However, if you want to make sure that he covers something specific or to ask him any questions while he’s doing it then please email or post comments below.
