    White Motorola Q

It’s been a few months since we first spoke about the Motorola Q but we just came across this picture of the Q in different clothes.

    Motorola Q in White

It’s not clear whether or not this is an offical device or if this is the result of a quick encounter with a tim of spray paint but it definitely looks a lot nicer in white!

See the rest of the photos HERE.

    HTC Athena photo review

The folks over at Moblog have got their hands on an HTC Athena already and have reviewed it in pictures.

    HTC Athena

“The best way to describe HTC Athena I feel, have to be the term ā€œMobile PC Communicator.ā€ You see, unlike laptops or computers, you do not need to wait for the device to (cold) boot up. You donā€™t have worries like battery going to end within 2 to 3 hours time (Lap top battery time usage). You no longer have the excuses like; the device is too heavy to be carried around. Same time, Athena does not behave like the rest of the Pocket PC Mobile devices. Just look at the specifications stated below, none of the any mobile devices have all the specifications offerings available on the market to date. “

    Updated HTC Athena specifications:

  • Intel Bulverde PXA270 624 Mhz chipset
  • 128 MB RAM / 128 MB ROM
  • Inbuilt GPS Receiver
  • Quad band GSM Network
  • 8 GB microdrive with G senor
  • 3G UTMS / HSDPA 1.8 Mbps / GPRS / WiFi 802.11 b/g Connection
  • 5ā€ Samsung VGA Screen / 262 K color TFT LCD
  • Auto focus 3 mega pixels Digital camera
  • USB 2.0
  • A2DP Bluetooth 2.0
  • AVRCP Bluetooth
  • HTC VGA / Composite Video / S-Video Output
  • Min. 30 FPS Video decoding output
  • Detachable QWERTY Keyboard input
  • Motion control web browser
  • Sub display User interface keyboard magnet attached to LCD
  • SRS 3D sound effect
  • Dual Digital Camera
  • 5-way navigation mouse like-button
  • ATI imageon 2282 Graphics accelerator
  • 2100mAh Battery
  • Each time I see this device it looks more and more impressive!

Get the full low-down on the Moblog site.

    TomTom infected with Trojans

TomTom admits that a number of its devices are infected with viruses. The viruses were shipped with the TomTom GO 910 model but do not affect the operation of the device, according to the manufacturers.

However upon connecting the device to a PC, anti-virus software on the computer immediately flags up two alerts identifying win32.Perlovga.A trojan and TR/Drop.Small.qp as being resident on the device.

The two viruses are found on brand new devices right out of the box!

    VITO Technology Launches VoiceReminder

VITO Technology releases new product for Pocket PC & Smartphones ā€“ VITO VoiceReminder. VITO VoiceReminder is a talking alarm-clock and a voice reminder in one that keeps you on track telling you the exact time and playing your voice reminders exactly at scheduled time.

    VITO VoiceReminder

VITO VoiceReminder uses voice messages recorded by you to remind you about all the important events in your life: from business meetings to kidsā€™ school festivities. Creating new reminders takes a couple of seconds and you may be sure that VITO VoiceReminder will notify you when the time comes.

In VITO VoiceReminder you can schedule as many voice reminders as you need to notify you: daily, weekly, monthly or just once. There are different convenient views for all your reminders by day, week and month. This way you can overlook, say, all reminders for the following week. Reminders are easily managed: you can edit, copy and delete them.

VITO VoiceReminder can also be used as a full screen talking clock. It can announce current time precisely or roughly, in round numbers. Keep your device in the pocket and listen to the time! You can choose how you want VITO VoiceReminder to notify you: by playing specific music files (wav, mp3, ogg), announcing current time or both. After this you will hear your voice memo. One more important thing is that reminders volume does not depend on system volume ā€“ you will never miss a single reminder.

VITO VoiceReminder is available at vitotechnology.com for $19.95. Try it for free for 2 weeks.

    i-Mate JAQ3 Reviewed

Jack Cook of MobilitySite has just posted a decent review of the i-mate JAQ3.

    iMate JAQ3

“My first impression is that the JAQ3 is a device made for the mobile road warrior that wants the ability to perform all of those daily tasks quickly and easily like you can on a Smartphone but yet have that extra ability to perform more in depth functions provided by the typical device that has the Pocket PC OS incorporated in it. The JAQ3 uniquely incorporates a QWERTY keyboard, a landscape touch-screen and 4-way navigation/action button as well as a JOG Dial and an OK key on the left side to make one handed access easy.”

Read the full review on MobilitySite.

Remember, you can still order the I-Mate JAQ3 from Clove Technology and save Ā£20 off the normal price with the voucher code located HERE.

Trend Micro Finds More Windows Mobile Flaws

Trend Micro reports vulnerabilities in Windows Mobile OS. According to the company’s blog site:

Trend Micro has again discovered flaws related to Windows Mobile. Both of the newly found vulnerabilities are flaws in applications that ship by default with Microsoft’s mobile device OS.

One of the said applications is Pictures and Videos, which causes a mobile device to hang for 10-15 minutes when it tries to process a malformed JPEG file. The other flaw is found in Windows Mobileā€™s Internet Explorer(IE), which when exploited terminates IE and causes the affected mobile device to be unstable.

Both vulnerabilities affect devices running Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for Smartphones and PocketPC. As of this writing, Microsoft has already been informed of these flaws but no patches are available as of yet.

i-Mate K-Jar appears on FCC site

The i-mate K-Jar has just shown up on the FCC site showing internal and external pictures as well as a copy of the user manual.

    iMate K-Jar

The ropey looking prototype looks like a cross between the HTC Universal, with its swivel screen, and the HTC Hermes in terms of size and keyboard layout. However, unlike the Universal the K-Jar sports the one thing that all Universal owners wish for; an external screen!

    iMate K-Jar Front

As you can see from the image above the LCD screen (on the right) is pretty small and seems to be in an odd position. However, this is enough to display the name or number of the incoming call.

Specification of the i-Mate K-Jar is pretty uninspiring:

  • Windows Mobile 5
  • Triband GSM/GPRS (no 3G)
  • 128 MB ROM
  • 64 MB RAM
  • miniSD card slot
  • a rather puny TI OMAP 730 CPU at just 200 MHz
  • Bluetooth 1.2
  • WiFi: 802.11b
  • touchscreen is only QVGA (320 x 240)
  • camera is 2 megapixels.
