Since I posted my HTC Touch Pro video yesterday I've had tons of requests of photos of the Pro next to the Diamond to that you can judge the difference in size. So, not to disappoint anyone here are a few shots of the two devices side-by-side.

Having spent the last 24 hrs with the Touch Pro I have to say that it is by far the best phone I've had for years! Definitely better than my TyTN II and, for me anyway, better than the HTC Touch Diamond. I do still like the Diamond but with my heavy email use a QWERTY keyboard is a must!
As you can see from the shots above, the Touch Pro is almost twice as thick as the Diamond and about 50% heavier. However, despite being about 30 grams lighter than the HTC TyTN II it feels heavier in your hand, perhaps because it's more compact.
Signal strength on the HTC Touch Pro is better than the Diamond. We live in the middle of nowhere with poor network coverage, the Diamond rarely picks up a signal but the Pro has a couple of bars.
We'll have a full review for you soon but if there is anything you would like to know about the HTC Touch Pro in the meantime then please drop us a line!
EDIT: Our HTC Touch Pro review is now live!

Just wondering about the software that comes as standard. Specs talk about GPS capability but I've not yet seen mention of GPS software.
Also, any indication of battery life from a mixed usage (phone calls, video, web, document viewing, etc)?
didnt even realise til after i'd opened the box, now i don't have a proof of purchase, well i do, but for the wrong phone...
Only other thing I can think of is about the sound quality when making phone calls. Remember hearing somewhere that the Diamond had pretty poor quality outgoing, so hope there's an improvement.
Absolutely great review....just a few questions please. :)
1. Does it come with GPS Software? If Not where and how much can you buy one from.
2. Also does it come with Google Maps? If Yes then does it come with the new version with the Pin droping animation?
3. Can you Please demonstrate Remote Desktop Connection?
4. Does the TouchFlO not ( TouchFLO 3D ) work in the normal programs like Word, Excel, Outlook..? Meaning does the
finger flicking upwards or downwards work in these apps?
5. Can you please demonstrate the phone feature, like making a call? I'd heard in the Diamond review that after
making a call the screen dims after 3-4 seconds, does the Touch PRO have the same Problem?
6. What is Max SD Card capacity? 16 or 32 GB? Also are the cards available.
7. Can you Please also demonstrate the GSEN application.
8. Can you Please also demonstrate the on screen keyboard.
I know I've asked a few questions...but would very much appreciate your reply.
Thanx
Kinara :)
The Touch Pro does have built in GPS. It has Google Maps pre-installed but for 'proper' sat nav you'll have to buy something like TomTom or CoPilot. GPS seems good though.
Battery life, as you would expect from the larger battery, is much better than the Diamond. I've been playing around with WiFi, Bluetooth, playing videos, music, web browsing etc. and I've used it well past the 24 hour mark without charging. I'll comment on this more as I use it over the next week or so.
The Pro is much neater than the TyTN II (IMHO) and fits much better in my pocket. It a head turner too!
I cant comment on the outgoing sound quality at the moment but the incoming audio is quite clear BUT is quieter than the Diamond.
The screen on the Pro does dim when making a call, same as the Diamond. You can change that in the registry though and for me its really no big deal - you just turn the screen back on if you need to.
I am using an 8GB memory card. I dont know what the limit is but being microSDHC compatible I guess 16GB will be ok, I've yet to see one of these though so cant say for sure.
I'll give you more info in the review!
Oh and to Mr Anon - you got a pro and not a Diamond? Want to swap? :P

Thanks for a great blog!
1) On the touch diamond the internal memory can be used directly as a USB device.
Is this functionality available on the Touch Pro - allowing the user to share the MicroSD card? I have found WM5Storage to be a bit flaky on the TYTNII - especially connection to Linux Box's.
2) Battery life. What is this in practice? Due to its small size my Diamond can make it through the day only if you dont use it.... I think the battery is bigger but would be good to see how much "average" (yes I know) use its possible to get out of the Pro.
3) Reception - The diamond (for me) does not have as good reception as the TYTNII. I can get a HSDPA Signal on the TYTN with quick downloads where the diamond can only get GPRS - Which I guess is down to anntenna size. Comments on Reception strength would be good.
Thanks
Paul.
Paul - Touch Pro has the same option to use memory as a USB device.
I'm getting about two days from the battery at the moment but I'll try and test this a bit more scientifically later.
Reception on the Pro is better than the Diamond for sure, more like the TyTN II!
Matt
Nonetheless, I'll still be getting one when it's available for the US, just wanted to get an idea of what things to expect in my style of use.
I also thought of another thing...
I think the Touch Pro has an Accelerometer. Can this be easily overridden with a screen rotate like on the HTC Cube App? I have had the accelerometer on a Canon camera before and it works fine in the beginning but after about 6 months of use it tends to become a bit more random. Be a bit of a pain if the TomTom rotates just cause you go over a bump in the road!
Thanks
Paul.
Any idea when Sony will be releasing their Xperia and will you be doing a comparison once both are out?
Adam
You say the reception is better than the diamond, but is it actually any good? What network are you running it on?
Can't wait for the full review!
I have some tomtom maps, so I will be more than happy of getting it back.
I've had the Omnia for a couple of day and not that happy with it.
Battery of the PRO is the same (measured) that that of the diamond.????
Sorry for my English, I am Spanish
Their common features are listed as follows:
* 2.8-inch touch screen, 640×480 pixels.
* Vibrant TouchFLO 3D user interface, responding perfectly to your finger gestures when scrolling through contacts, browsing the web, and launching media… all vividly displayed as photos and artwork powered by the 3D graphics processor.
* HTC Weather - providing a constant view of weather at home and abroad.
* Surf and download at broadband speed with HSDPA internet connectivity and Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 b/g).
* 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera for quality stills and video.
* Integrated GPS for use with maps software for a full turn-by-turn satellite navigation experience.
By looking at their outlooks, it is obvious that Pro has a full-size QWERTY keyboard. Diamond has a software QWERTY keyboard since its screen is also a touch interface. Pro is 0.71 inches thick and Diamond is only 0.45 inches thick. Also, Pro is 5.83 oz and Diamond is 3.88 oz. Pro is thicker and heavier than Diamond, again, because of its full-size QWERTY keyboard. Depends on your preference, I personally prefer thinner and lighter gadget.
Other features are fairly similar as listed above. Except Diamond has 4GB of internal memory out-of-box, while Pro has only 512MB only! However, Pro has GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands (Quad band) while Diamond has only 900/1800/1900 MHz (Tri band). I am still using my two-year-old Moto K1 (Quad band). Comparing with my old SE phone (I don’t remember the model but it was only a tri band), the 850 MHz band really make a different in North Ameria, at least in Canada.
From their name, Pro has more value-added features, such as 850 MHz band and longer battery life. Diamond aims for the entertainment-rich features, such larger memory for music/movie download.
Looking at Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, it is very comparible to Pro. In fact, they both have full-size QWERTY keyboard, they are both running MS Windows Mobile 6.1, they are both quad band compatible and Wi-Fi support. However, X1 is a stonger one comparing to Pro. X1 has a 3 inches WVGA (800×480, 64k-colour TFT) and lighter (5.1 oz).

John
Yes, the Pro has an on-screen keyboard also, you can use either slide out or on screen.
:) - I have been doing research all day.
Thanks for posting the profile shots of the phones, that really helped my decision. Diamond!
I am getting the diamond unlocked and with tom tom already installed (from a friend and i will save $200 over getting the unlocked pro with tomtom)
