Access Blocked TV Content from Outside the UK with Hotspot Shield

hotspot-shield-11-700x462Bypass firewalls and online censorship with Hotspot Shield, and access your favorite television content from outside the UK today.

With some of the best athletes in the world competing for the World Cup title during the past month, many soccer fans around the world were looking for ways to stay up to date on the FIFA coverage while traveling or living abroad, where UK television channels and players like BBC iPlayer and UK TV are not always readily available. Fortunately, with Hotspot Shield, the world’s most trusted VPN (Virtual Private Network) service, you can unblock any website and get instant access to your favorite UK sites from abroad. To learn more about switching your IP address location and accessing television content from outside the UK, visit the official Hotspot Shield website and download your free trial today.

Online Players Rising Above Cable TV

With more and more people ditching cable TV and turning to the internet to watch their favorite television content, online players like BBC iPlayer are becoming increasingly popular among users not just in the UK, but around the world. Unfortunately, because of firewalls and censorship laws in some areas, non-UK users frequently encounter the issue of geo-blocked content when trying to access popular sites like ITV and UK TV from the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and other countries. This means that people with IP addresses located outside the UK may not be able to access the same websites and online content they would normally have access to from inside the UK. By selecting an IP address from one of Hotspot Shield’s international server locations, you can bypass online censorship and unblock websites in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Western Europe, or anywhere else in the world, simply by changing your virtual location.

Watch World Cup Games Live Online

All of the FIFA World Cup games were broadcast online this year by BBC iPlayer, ITV and UK TV, with English-speaking commentators, but users in other countries were not able to access UK content without the help of a VPN service like Hotspot Shield. For users in the United States, ESPN also broadcast the games live online, but the content was only available to those who subscribe to popular cable providers like Comcast XFINITY. By downloading Hotspot Shield today, you can change your IP address location to the UK and instantly unblock your favorite online player, getting immediate access to your favorite television shows and worldwide events, like the World Cup.

Download Hotspot Shield Today (available on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS)

In addition to unblocking UK sites from abroad, Hotspot Shield also allows you to browse the Internet anonymously and protects your personal data from online snoopers. When you use public WiFi connections, you run the risk of internet service providers (ISPs) or malicious hackers accessing your personal information and recording your browsing sessions and private exchanges. With the help of Hotspot Shield, you can select an IP address from one of our international server locations, anonymize your online activity, and continue to enjoy familiar content online, regardless of where you are in the world. If you frequently travel abroad or currently live outside the UK, download Hotspot Shield and start watching your favorite online television content today.

In-App Purchases do not a free game make

83f43adc59ca108ddac072c327b554b2After many complaints, and in order to abide by laws set up by the European Commision, Google will no longer be labeling games with in-app purchases (IAP) as free. The complaints are due to children charging up their parent’s credit cards, without parents knowledge, from games that were labeled as free, however offer IAP.

As gamers on the Android platform, we are all familiar with how some of these “free” games work. While some can be played in their entirety with the purchases being completely optional, other games have a pay wall, or a pay to win model where the game becomes extremely difficult or tedious to play without spending money.

Google’s plans to prevent children from making IAP and follow laws set up by the European Union goes into effect at the end of September. On the other side of the fence, Apple has yet to give a solid plan on how to deal with the issue on the App Store, but did issue a response concerning the matter after a scolding of sorts from the EU.

Apple takes great pride in leading the industry in parental controls that are incredibly easy to use and help ensure a great experience for parents and children on the App Store. The parental controls in iOS are strong, intuitive and customizable. And over the last year we made sure any app which enables customers to make in-app purchases is clearly marked. We’ve also created a Kids Section on the App Store with even stronger protections to cover apps designed for children younger than 13.

These controls go far beyond the features of others in the industry. But we are always working to strengthen the protections we have in place, and we’re adding great new features with iOS 8, such as Ask to Buy, giving parents even more control over what their kids can buy on the App Store.

Our goal is to continue to provide the best experience for our customers and we will continue to work with the EC member states to respond to their concerns.

Acer are top of the pops on Chromebooks

chromebook-shipments-in-q2-2014Data from global research firm TrendForce claims that Acer has seen the biggest growth in the second quarter shipments of Chrome OS notebooks, jumping 6 percentage points on its performance for the previous quarter. This rise means almost one third of all Chromebook shipments in the last three months were Acer models. The Taiwan-based tech giant now edges ahead of rival Samsung to become the most popular Chromebook maker, having been narrowly beaten by the South Korean electronics company earlier in the year.

Acer recently announced that its consumer Chromebook sales in the U.S. hit nearly 47% during the first quarter of the year. A mix of higher pricing of the second-generation Samsung Chromebook 2 and reportedly average performance from the eight-core Exynos Octa processor used seems to have resulted in cheaper and more powerful Intel-based devices flourishing.
