SkyDrive gets simple app-centric sharing for Office, powerful file management, HTML5 upload, other updates

SkyDrive

Today, Microsoft  announces the release of an upgrade to SkyDrive.com to address key feedback as a part of an on-going set of investments in SkyDrive. The release includes simple app-centric sharing, particularly for Office documents; Powerful new file management features; HTML5 uploads and CSS transitions in Internet Explorer 10; Photo improvements including geo-tagging support; Support for more file types like PDF and RAW; and performance improvements across the board.

Significant work has been undertaken to improve the way in which sharing works on SkyDrive.com in a number of areas. Single files can now be shared easily rather than entire folders, and sharing options have been embedded directly into the Office Web Apps such as Word and Excel meaning that users don’t need to leave the document they are working on in order to share documents. Sharing with users of other email services is now as simple as sharing with Hotmail users, and files can be shared easily on Facebook or LinkedIn.

HTC Titan Review

HTC Titan ReviewThe Titan is one half of the newest phones released by HTC with the latest version of Windows Phone 7 but this is the most interesting device. Mainly because of the gargantuan 4.7 inch screen, a fast 1.5 GHz processor and Windows Phone 7.5. There is no doubt that it certainly impressive on paper but how does it perform in real life? Has HTC been too ambitious with the screen size? Should you choose the Titan over anything else? Read on to find out!

Samsung Galaxy Nexus benchmark

Galaxy Nexus-main Earlier this week I got my hands on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and recorded a pretty long unboxing and demo video. Normally, as part of the demo video, I include a quick run through using Quadrant to benchmark the relative performance of a new device and this time was no different.

I commented in the video that I was surprised that the benchmark results were not much higher given that the Galaxy Nexus has a dual-core CPU. However, as several viewers pointed out Quadrant is not optimised for the new Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system so the results were somewhat queued.

In order to resolve that and to give a fairer representation of the speed I decided to record another benchmark video, this time using AnTuTu Benchmark, this gives a far more realistic benchmark and to see how that compares to another device we’re running up against the XPERIA Arc which has a 1GHz single-core CPU.

Check out the video below to see how the Nexus does!
