Announced for the USA – The HTC Evo 4G

evo

Our lucky friends over the pond in the States are getting a brand new HTC device, the Evo 4G.

The device will be available on the carrier Sprint this summer and man, what a phone. The hardware is clearly based on the HTC HD2 but this time running Android 2.1 with a few improvements.

Once again we see a 4.3 TFT LCD with a with a Snapdragon QSD8650 1GHz processor. The Evo will be able to hold plenty of apps as it generously comes with 1GB of storage and 512MB or RAM.

An 8mp camera is onboard with a 1.3mp front facing for good measure. The HTC Evo will also be capable of shooting 720p video, a massive bonus!

Read on to see the full specs and press release from HTC & Sprint.

Samsung announce the Galaxy S

Galaxy S

Today Samsung have announced what sounds like a beast of a phone, the Galaxy S.

The Galaxy S GT-I9000 has a 4-inch Super AMOLED display running at WVGA 800 x 480 resolution, together with a 5-megapixel autofocus camera, 1GHz processor and the company’s own custom UI.

The camera is also capable of video recording 720p HD at 30 frames per second. Fingers crossed it will do a better job than the Sony Ericsson Vivaz did that I reviewed last week.

As well as that nice big super AMOLED screen the Galaxy S also comes with A-GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi b/g/n. Onboard storage will be either 8 or 16gb and external storage of up to 32gb, nice.

Sounds like a serious contender for the Google Nexus One and HTC Desire?

INQ 3G Chat review

INQ 3G Chat review INQ have identified a gap in the market for a low-cost handset that focuses on core functionality without trying too hard to be a jack of all trades.  The INQ Chat 3G is the filler for that gap.

Accidentally dialling ‘999’ when a mobile phone is in your pocket is not what I had in mind when taking the Chat 3G for a spin but thankfully this little incident doesn’t detract from what has turned out to be an interesting addition to the world of social mobile.  More about that later though.

From the box through to the instruction cards and the phone itself, everything looks to be geared towards the youth market with it’s bright colours and comic/Manga imagery.  Whilst it’s never going to compete with touch screen smartphones in terms of sheer ability, underneath all the gloss is a capable device that comes pre-loaded with fully integrated social networking applications for the likes of Facebook, twitter, Skype and MSN Messenger.

My review unit came with a 3 PAYG SIM giving free Skype-to-Skype calls and Windows Live Messenger usage.

TweetDeck for iPhone Mini Review

IMG_0020

With so many different applications for twitter it’s hard to decide which one is best and to be honest which one is best for me may not be best for you.

If you use TweetDeck on your desktop computer then the mobile version may be right up your street, as long as you have an iPhone or iPod Touch of course!

The mobile version of the app is pretty much identical to the desktop version and will allow you to perform the same functions.

And the good news is it’s free!
