Zumobi launches widget service for BlackBerry

image Microsoft spin-off Zumobi announced that its widget platform is now available for BlackBerrys. Zumobi is ad-supported and promises to enhance smartphone users experience “by providing easy access to small ‘bites’ of customized Web content” using widgets or what it calls “tiles.” Zumobi says it already has a “robust library” of tile topics for Windows Mobile users, and now BlackBerry users can get in on the fun too.

image New tiles also include: NPR, AP Olympics report, Major League Baseball, Facebook and Twitter. Users can also create their own Zumobi tiles from just about any Web content with the new Tile Creation Wizard, available on Zumobi’s Web site.

“By adding BlackBerry as our second major mobile platform, Zumobi significantly expands our reach for brand and content partners. We’re thrilled to introduce Zumobi to Blackberry’s data-savvy users, and look forward to providing them with a highly-engaging mobile experience,” Ken Willner, vice president of Zumobi’s market development, said in a company statement.
