ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) has this week begun displaying its first Windows Phone, the ZTE Tania, at the PT/EXPO COMM China 2011in Beijing.

The Tania supports HSPA+, has a multi-point touch 800×480 WVGA resolution 4.3-inch thin film transistor (TFT) screen and a 1GHZ frequency processor with 3D acceleration. It also has a 512MB cache, 4GB of flash memory, an auto focus 5-megapixel camera, WIFI and A-GPS. The device comes pre-loaded with the latest version of Windows Phone, code-named Mango, and will launch later this year in a number of European countries.

ZTE is the sole Chinese smartphone strategic partner for Microsoft and plans to introduce additional smartphone devices based on the Windows Phone platform in the future.

Windows Phone has a unique user interface that utilizes Live Tiles, making it easy for users to connect and share with friends, family and colleagues. The operating system also delivers a fast, vivid web experience using Internet Explorer© 9 and hardware acceleration. It also connects apps to searches, making them easier to find and use.

“ZTE has had much success with its other phones and we hope to carry that over to Windows Phone with the Tania,” said Mr. He ShiyouExecutive Vice President and Head of the Terminal Division of ZTE. “This new smartphone will crystallize ZTE’s product strategy on multiple platforms while giving our customers a wider variety of OS choices.”

I can’t wait to see if this one is as much of a bargain as ZTE’s recent Android handsets.
