Samsung S5600 unboxing video

Samsung seem to be releasing a lot of handsets at the moment and the S5600 is just one of the new handsets to hit the market. Design-wise is bears a striking resemblance to the Samsung Jet but on the inside it’s a fairly different beast. The S5600 has a lower resolution display than the Jet, just QVGA and overall has a more limited spec. Don’t be fooled in to thinking that the S5600 is a basic handset, it has 3G and HSDPA support, Touch Wiz interface, capacitive touch screen and built in GPS.

We’ll be reviewing the handset over the next few days and will have the review online for you shortly but for now have a look at the unboxing video for a taster of what the S5600 has to offer.

Panasonic HDC-SD10 unboxing video

If you are a regular visitor to tracyandmatt.co.uk then you’ll know that we’ve look at wide selection of camcorders recently, both HD and SD models. This week we got our hands on the Panasonic HDC-SD10 and the most striking thing about the SD10 (and it’s bigger brother the TM10) is just how light it is, weighing in at just 227 grams it’s actually one of the worlds lightest HD camcorders, weighing not much more than some mobile phones we’ve seen recently!

Panasonic HDC-SD10

You might think that the diminutive size and weight of the SD10 would mean that there was a trade-off in terms of features and specification but that’s not really the case. So we’ll be taking a closer look at the Panasonic HDC-SD10 over the next week or so and we’ll have a written review online for you. For now have a look at my brief unboxing video below for an overview.

Toshiba TG01 unboxing video

It has been quite a while since we saw a Windows Mobile device from Toshiba and this, the TG01, looks like being one of the more popular handsets they’ve released.

TG01_angled_right

The Toshiba TG01

Rumours of the Toshiba TG01 surfaced about 8 months ago but Toshiba put and end to the rumours and speculation by announcing the TG01 officially at MWC in February of this year.

As you’ll see from the unboxing video below, the TG01 certainly isn’t a small handset, in fact it has to be one of the largest available at the moment. Despite its large size the weight isn’t too much of an issue though, weighing in at just 129g it is quite light and because its also very thin, 9.9mm, it doesn’t feel huge in your hand or in your pocket.

Toshiba TG01 unboxing video

Featuring an enormous 4.1” Wide-VGA (800×480) touch-screen display, the TG01 comes with image  tuning technology fostered from Toshiba’s LCD TV ”Regza”. Using advanced picture-definition technologies taken directly from the company’s acclaimed range of LCD TVs, the TG01’s delivers greater colour image control, ensuring that the display is bright and vivid, with pin-sharp processing for fast-moving video playback.  Add support for a wide range of popular video formats and it’s clear the TG01 sets new standards for portable entertainment on a mobile device.
Toshiba’s TG01 is the world’s first mobile device with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon™ chipset. Snapdragon uses a custom processor design to deliver an industry leading combination of 1GHz computing and high-power efficiency. By offering processing performance, immersive multimedia, built-in GPS, and high-speed 3G connectivity integrated into a single chip, Snapdragon enables the TG01 to be a groundbreaking, super slim device that is immensely powerful.

”Toshiba’s TG01 device leverages Snapdragon’s unprecedented capabilities to deliver a truly innovative user experience with nearly twice the processing power, more advanced multimedia, and thinnest form factor compared to today’s smartphones.” said Steve Mollenkopf, executive vice president of Qualcomm.  “We are pleased to be working with Toshiba to  deliver Snapdragon™ in the TG01 to the industry, demonstrating how evolutions in wireless technology are redefining what it means to be mobile.”

HTC Hero retail unboxing video

Just a quick video for you today. Last week I unboxed a pre-retail version of the HTC Hero which was in a pretty plain box. Thanks to our friends over at Orange we managed to get our hands on the full retail version.

As you’ll see from the video below the final packaging is quite different to the plain box we saw last week and is quite smart. I think also hats-off to HTC for coming up with a box design that’s not only smart looking but also isn’t too heavy on the packaging.

Sony Ericsson C903 unboxing video

You may recall that we unboxed and reviewed the Sony Ericsson C905 recently so when we are asked if we would review the Sony Ericsson C903 a few days ago my initial reaction was that this would just be a cut down version of the C905. Despite there being some obvious similarities between the two handsets the C903 looks fairly different. The C903 has only a 5MP camera where the C905 is 8MP and the C903 has a more plastic feel to it.

The Sony Ericsson C903

There are lots of comparisons to be made between the two handsets so I think they are best left to the full review but for now have a look at my brief unboxing video below.

Sony Ericsson C903 unboxing video

Note that I mention the memory card support in the video and incorrectly stated that it supported MicroSD cards, in fact the C903 uses M2 memory cards.

Sony Ericsson C903 specification:

  • Weight – 96 g
  • Screen – 262,144-colour TFT QVGA – 240×320 pixel

  • Camera – 5 megapixel camera
    – Photo flash
    – Auto focus
    – Face detection
    – Geo-tagging
  • Media player
  • Bluetooth™ stereo (A2DP)
  • Google Maps™
  • aGPS
  • Wayfinder Navigator™ (3-month trial version)
  • FM Radio with RDS
  • YouTube™
  • TV-out

Packed full of features the C903 Cyber-shot™ will give you the best picture possible with Face Detection, finding up to three people in the frame at a time and Smile Shutter™ which automatically picks out beaming smiles. Snap up to nine images in quick succession using BestPic™, pick your best and delete the rest.

Show off your images with the crystal clear, auto rotating 2.4” display, send them to your blog or connect to your TV screen using the TV-out function and get up close and personal.

HTC Hero unboxing video

It was barely a month ago that we were at the HTC Hero launch event and in a very short space of time the HTC Hero has become an extremely hot topic. Yesterday I managed to get my hands on the HTC Hero final hardware and software build so thought I’d run through a quick unboxing video to give you some idea what the retail package will have to offer.

Hero_angled_right

HTC originally announced that the Hero would be available by the end of July and we’ve already seen most of the UK retailers offering it on pre-order and it’s also appearing on the Orange UK website. However, we understand that there is a bit of delay in getting stock so it’s likely to be the middle of August before we start to see the Hero shipping to customers and perhaps some time later before we see them in any meaningful numbers.

So have a quick look at the short video below which, although not final packaging, we believe that it’s pretty close to. If you want to have a look at a more detailed video of the HTC Hero OS and the Sense UI take a look at our earlier video recorded at the launch event.

Samsung Omnia HD unboxing video

The Samsung Omnia HD was first announced at MWC back in February. There was some initial confusion surrounding the Omnia HD. It’s predecessor, the Omnia, is a Windows Mobile powered device and it was assumed that the Omnia HD would have the same OS which sadly (as a WinMo user) it does not, favouring Symbian instead.

The Samsung Omnia HD

The Samsung Omnia HD

First impression of the Omnia HD is that it’s a BIG handset. It’s physically larger than the iPhone, noticeably longer and significantly thicker. There’s a good reason for the size though and that’s all down to the fantastic 3.7" OLED screen. In fact the screen is unlike anything I’ve seen before. Sure, I’ve used devices with OLED screens before but this one is probably the best I’ve seen. As I try to describe in the unboxing video below, the brightly coloured areas on the screen, especially within the menus really stand out and have an almost 3D quality while the richness of colour is also amazing. OLED displays are typically quite poor when it comes to bright outdoor conditions as they are not transflective, the screen on the Omnia HD performs quite well outside though.

I wont spoil James’ review (which will be online soon) by going in to much more detail about the Samsung Omnia HD, after all this is supposed to be the unboxing and introduction. Suffice to say that if you can get past the fact that the Omnia HD is among the largest handsets on the market then it’s definitely going to be worth a look!

Samsung Omnia HD Specification:

  • Dimensions: 123x 58 x 12.9mm
  • Symbian OS 9.4 Series 60 5th Edition

This week we received the Samsung JET S8000 to review and initial impression are that this is a decent looking handset with a fabulous AMOLED display. There’s also an 800MHz processor to keep things moving along at a fair old clip and the 5MP camera is pretty good too!

Acer Aspire 4810T unboxing video

We’ve reviewed Acer laptops in the past and have always been pretty impressed with their performance and value for money. Last week Acer sent us their new Aspire 4810T to put through its paces. Part of the Timeline range the 4810T looks understated at first in a simple silver/grey chassis but this works really well on the slim package and definitely grows on you.

The Acer Aspire 4810T

The Acer Aspire 4810T

Perhaps the one thing that makes the Aspire stand out from the rest of the crowd is the claim that the battery life is around 9 hours! Now we’ve all heard claims of exceptional battery life from manufacturers and they are often then subject to a caveat that it’s x hours of light use. However, my initial findings with the 4810T is that the claims could well be true. Having initially set it up yesterday and installing apps such as Firefox etc and then browsing the web for a few hours, the battery status says 35% remaining and 2.5 hours. We’ll know more about that later.

So for now, have a look at the unboxing video below where you’ll be able to see the laptop in a little more detail. Note though that the accessories seem to be missing from my review model.
