HTC S730 unboxed

The HTC S730 is the latest smartphone device from HTC. I guess you could think of it as being un updated, 3G version of the S710.

When the device was first announced there was some confusion over the specification, some saying that it would have GPS and others that it would not. I can confirm, however, that the retail S730 does NOT have built in GPS.

As always, the review is coming but here is our unbox:

HTC Touch Dual unboxed

The HTC Touch Dual is another one of those devices that everyone seems to be talking about at the moment. Thanks to our friends over at Clove Technology we’ve managed to get our hands on one to review. As with all of our reviews, where possible, we’ll be using the device for a few weeks and only then will we prepare the review.

LG KU990 Viewty unboxed

By now you’ve probably seen the adverts on TV, an attractive looking black and silver phone with a built in 5 megapixel digital camera that has a high ISO sensitivity setting for capturing shots in dark conditions.

The LG Viewty (KU990) makes you wonder: Is this a phone with an excellent built-in digital camera OR a good digital camera with a built-in phone?

The LG Viewty certainly does look the part and I think it will be a winner as a lifestyle device. Can it stand up to business use? At the moment we’re not sure but the full review is on its way. Have a look at our unbox to see the Viewty in more detail.

Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ700B unboxed

Regular visitors will know that we have recently been talking about plasma and LCD TV’s quite a bit. This week we have been looking at the new 42″ Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ700B – the top-of-the-range Panasonic Full HD plasma TV.

We’re currently in the middle of reviewing the Viera so thought it was about time we posted the unboxing ceremony!

Polaroid CGA-02540 Media Backup Device

A while ago Polaroid sent us their Polaroid CGA-02540 Media Photo Device to take a look at. In essence the CGA-02540 is a 40GB external hard drive which connects to your PC via USB. When you plug the drive in the installed firmware takes over and scans your PC for photos and copies them to the backup drive. It will search for 32 different file formats and also look inside ZIP files and emails.

The device works really quickly and can also be configured via its own control panel. The first backup can take some time, depending on how many photos you have of course but when used on subsequent occasions it simply looks for changes and works much more quickly.

Simply plug the media backup device into your computer’s USB port and let the media backup do the rest. The media backup device automatically searches, copies and stores your digital photos! Eten Glofiish X800 unboxed

We first mentioned the Eten Glofiish X800 several months ago, but finally Eten have released this little beastie!

The X800 is one of only a few Windows Mobile devices to have a VGA (480×640) display, there are even fewer that also include built in GPS.

We’ll spend the next few weeks using the X800 day-to-day and will have the review online shortly after. Here’s our unbox video so you can see what’s included.

The X800 was first previewed earlier in the year at CeBIT where it drew considerable interest from show-goers and the media. Asus Eee PC 701 unboxed

Everyone seems to be talking about the Asus Eee PC at the moment, everyone wants one but most places seem to be out of stock!

We’ve just managed to get our hands on an Eee PC to review and have so far been impressed with it. I was expecting something that resembled a childs first computer but that could not be futher from the truth. The Eee PC is a well built and well specified piece of kit and offers a truly portable computing experience for a fraction of the cost of a laptop PC.

Polaroid 10″ Digital Photo Frame unboxed

I’ve spoken about digital photo frames a number of times in the past and even reviewed a couple but these have mostly been of the 7″ variety. Polaroid recently sent me a 10″ photo frame to take a look at so as always I thought I would start off with an unboxing video.

I’ve played around with the photo frame briefly and put in the memory card from my Lumix compact camera. The slideshow plays perfectly and I have to say that upon initial inspection, I’m quite impressed with the quality and it’s nice to see your photos on a decent size screen! I’ll be talking about this more in a later post.

This frame has a native resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and supports Compact Flash, Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard, MicroDrive, Smart Media, Memory Stick and XD memory cards. It can display JPEG pictures and play MP3 audio files as well as MPEG2, MPEG4, ASF & AVI video formats. It also comes with a remote control.

With one 7″ (XSU-0750), two 10″ (XSU-01030E and XSU-01035B) and one high-resolution 12″ model (XSA-01220B) Polaroid offers picture frame styles to suit every need.The flexible 7″ with its real picture frame look in three captivating interchangeable real wood finishes, ebony, cherry and natural, fits in harmoniously to every home. The elegant real wood design of the 10″ model and the slim, dark frame of the 12″ model also set off photographs beautifully. Using an integrated speaker and the option of storing MP3 sound files, the larger models can even present slide-shows with their own individual tunes.

The 10″ and 12″ models are genuine pioneers in the digital picture frame sector. They can recognise the flags for portrait-format digital photos and automatically turn them the right way up – with absolutely no distortion. In addition, the XSU-01035B has an internal memory with a capacity of 256 megabytes. The 12″ model is also well worth a look: with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, it can display photos brilliantly on a larger scale. All the frames also have remote control, making them especially convenient and easy to use.

Polaroid 37″ Definia unboxed

A few weeks ago we attended a press event where Polaroid introduced their new Definia range of premium HD Ready LCD TV’s.

Since then we managed to get our hands on the 37″ Definia and we are in the middle or reviewing it at the moment. So far, I have to say that it’s quite impressive and offers good value for money. I wont spoil the review, which should be online soon, but instead will leave you with our unboxing video. One thing you’ll notice right away is that the Definia comes in a nice retail box rather than the plain brown that most LCD’s arrive in.

Asus M530w (Aries) unboxed

The Asus M530w (aka Asus Aries) is another attractive looking device from Asus. This is a Wondows Mobile 6 standard (Smartphone) device, so no touchscreen, but is backed by a powerful 416Mhz CPU, and 256MB ROM! You’ll also notice 3G and HSDPA standards are supported and there’s even a front-facing VGA camera for video conferencing.

Despite that impressive feature set the Asus M530w wont break the bank costing just Price: £195.74 (Ex. VAT) at Devicewire.
