Update Dension Gateway and iPhone 3G

image We posted a while ago about the problems we were having with the Dension Gateway 100 iPod car adaptors not charging the new iPhone 3G, well thanks to one of our readers Gabe we have some answers on what caused the problem and what the solution is if you have a Dension Gateway 100. Details after the break.

The iPhone 3G will only support 5V charging, which means that current GW300 v2 (GW32) and GW500 (with blue dock cable) will work properly. The current GW100 (GW15) will not charge, but the soon to be released 16 versions will be fine. Obviously all new products released from now will take account of the 5V charging requirement. To make this even clearer Gabe made a further phone call and was told

"A firmware update will be released soon on the Dension website in regards to the Gateway 100 and a blue cable will replace the existing cable that came with the unit. This will fix the charging problem for the iPhone 3g."

So we will be keeping an eye on their website and will report when we have a working solution.
