Resco releases Resco Suite 2009 for Palm OS

The title says it all really! Resco have launched Resco Suite 2009 for Palm OS and are providing it as a free upgrade for existing Suite customers. The latest version has a number of key improvements over the previous version which the Resco press release details below:

intro

Jan Slodicka, Founder of J.S. Soft s.r.o has proudly introduced Resco Suite 2009:

“Resco Suite is a combination of award-winning products for the Palm OS. It allows users to get all our products at an amazingly low cost of just 60$ (compared to 125$ when purchased individually), and should be included on every Palm OS device!” – Jan Slodicka

Version 2009 of the Suite is a free upgrade for existing customers and contains the latest version of Resco Explorer, which has added a variety of highly useful features like file synchronization!

As already stated above, customers save over 60$ by purchasing the Suite compared to buying the apps one-by-one. Customers who currently own one or more Resco products can update for significantly less by emailing customer support.

By the way: Resco Suite consists of the following products:

Resco Explorer
Resco Explorer is a file manager, launcher, zipper and encryption tool. The program can connect to LAN/FTP/VPN networks, can access Bluetooth file shares and offers many other advanced features that allow you to regain control of your Palm.

Resco Backup
Resco Backup is the #1 Palm OS backup solution. No other backup solution for Palm OS can verify backup results – Resco Backup makes sure that all is safe that should be safe.

Resco Viewer
Resco Viewer excels in every area: supported formats, image editing, speed, image management and image editing. And let’s not forget the slideshow mode that gives most digital photo frames a run for their money!

IDGuard
IDGuard is what password managers should be. It not only stores your passwords, PINs etc. – It protects sensitive documents and files. Your encrypted files can be edited in place without having to decrypt them. Security has never been so comfortable before!

Resco Neeews
Resco Neeews is the best news reader for Palm OS. HTML rendering, images and a huge collection of predefined feeds make Neeews the only feed reader you’ll ever wish to use! Neeews furthermore allows you to stream podcasts and lets you access services like Google News, Windows Live or Flickr wirelessly.

Resco Sudoku
Many Sudoku freaks consider Resco Sudoku the best Sudoku ever released for a mobile device. We included Sudoku – in case you ever feel like taking a go, the app is ready for you!

Resco Backup v2 for PocketPC released

I’ve been using Resco Backup for a while now and was pleased to learn that Version 2 had just been released. As I swap between devices on a very regular basis, having the ability to back everything up quickly and easily is great. What’s more, being able to put that backup on a memory card and then move between devices is extremely handy!

MainBasic

When using mobile devices, data loss is inevitable: operating systems can crash; devices can break down, get lost or be stolen. In most cases, the value of the device is small compared to the value of the data on it – think how you would feel if you lost your calendar, your contact database and irreplaceable pictures of your friends and family…

So far, backup programs were limited to protecting you from system crashes and operating / programming errors by keeping multiple copies of your data on an external memory card. When that card is lost, your data is gone – which leaves you with a single point of failure.

Backup version 2.0 is among the few backup programs which can save your PocketPC’s data from both crashes and theft / hardware damage. Our Palm OS experience has taught us that the safest place for your data is off the device – which is why Resco Backup 2.0 allows you to move your data to a remote FTP server automatically.

But what happens to your data while your device is lost? Resco Backup is the only program which has an answer to this question: we have a desktop tool which allows you to use your data without accessing your device!

Look up contacts, read your SMS or extract files – even if your device is out of reach!

Power users will be happy about our Registry Diff tool: if your PocketPC has crashed after installing an app, find out what evil deeds it committed!

Cutting a long story short: if you want to keep your data safe, installing Resco Backup 2.0 should be your #1 priority! A free trial version can be downloaded from Resco’s web site (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/backup/downloads.asp) – the full version costs 19.95$ and is available at Handango’s exclusively (MobiHand release will follow in the near future)!

Mobile Banking from Lloyds TSB

Lloyds TSB have launched a new mobile banking application that introduces a simpler access method that does not require the use of a WAP browser. Once the application is installed and set up all you need to access the service is a 4 digit pin code.

Current Account

Lloyds TSB mobile banking

Within the Java based application you can view your balances, a mini statement of the last five transactions and transfer money between your own accounts. Transferring money to third-party accounts should be supported in later versions.

We had a demo version of this new application on a Samsung U900 Soul and the navigation was simple if a little clumsy as everything needs to be selected by scrolling through with the arrow keys. This includes when you wanted to ‘OK’ after viewing the mini statement you need to scroll down all the transactions to get to the ‘OK’ rather than pressing the OK button.

In my option whilst the actual application has been made simpler to access there are still improvements to made to the functionality.

Carling’s iPint most popular free iPod app.

Something a little different for a bit of weekend fun. If you’ve got an iPod Touch or an iPhone you may have seen an application in the Apple Store called iPint. iPint is a fun little game that allows players to earn themselves a virtual pint of Carling! Betting on sites like 벳센세이션 can be a delightful and entertaining way to try your luck and potentially win exciting prizes.

The idea is a pretty simple one, using the motion sensor on the iPod you have to easy a pint of Carling Lager down a slippery bar top. There are obstacles along the way to make the task more tricky and there are 3 levels of difficulty. Once you navigate the pint in to the hands or a waiting punter you earn yourself a frosty pint which you can also ‘drink’ using the motion sensor!

Since its launch just over a week ago Caling’s iPint application has rocket to the number one spot in the Apple Store free Apps chart.

Carling is one of the first UK brands to develop and distribute a third party application following Apple’s release of it’s SDK.

This fun little application will go down a storm with your friends whether you are in the pub or at work. Everyone wants to give it a go!

Thanks to the guys and girls at Hill & Knowlton for sending us the App. (and an iPod Touch to play it on!)

If you want to see the game in action then head over to the Carling iPint site.

iWindowsMobile Communication Suite now to Include Winterface

Vito Technology have updated iWindowsMobile Communication Suite to now include Winterface.

From the press release:

VITO Technology releases iWindowsMobile Communication Suite v 1.05. The Suite contains #1 finger-friendly contact manager FunContact, unique texting application SMS-Chat, zooming onscreen keyboard ZoomBoard, and now outstanding mobile shell Winterface instead of GoodWin! The price is $39.95, not $70 when purchasing separately.

With iPhone 3G out rocking the market even the users of the foremost flagship Windows Mobile devices may feel they are a tad behind progress. iWindowsMobile Communication Suite proves that Windows Mobile still can impress its users. Taking the best from iPhone interface the four applications included in iWindowsMobile Communication Suite build on the strengths of Windows Mobile and greatly enhance its standard interface.

Instead of putting on the usual marketing blurb, let me quote independent customer reviews from Handango for each product from iWindowsMobile Communication Suite.

FunContact (5 stars): “This really puts the default contact manager to shame. Even the souped up HTC Touch Contacts app looks pretty poor compared to this…”

SMS-Chat (5 stars): “…Look no further, bought this within 10 minutes of downloading. Brilliant, clear to view and does exactly what is says. Really useful for keeping track of conversations with different clients.”

ZoomBoard (5 stars): “The zoom modes really make it easy to make sure that you are hitting the right letter on your screen board!”

Winterface (user comment at MyTodayScreen): “This thing simply rocks! It is responsive and attractive, it’s clearly the start of something big…”

iWindowsMobile Communication Suite is available at http://iwindowsmobile.com for $39.95. The users of SPB Mobile Shell get a 30% discount during this week on the Suite and on Winterface – Mobile Shell of next generation.
