Possible HTC Diamond backlight problem

Gizmodo are running a story that originated over at XDA-Developers that affects the HTC Touch Diamond and renders the phone unusable due to the backlight going permanently dim after several months of use. The issue seems to be a software problem although hard resets and different Roms are not solving the problem so it is not 100% certain that this is the case or how widespread the problem actually is. HTC have been unresponsive so far with any fixes or comment for that matter so we will keep a close eye on things and see how it works out. If this is a bug then it is a pretty serious one and needs to be addressed sharpish. If you have a Diamond let us know if you have suffered the problem.
