Capture and Print an entire website

The other day, while I was looking for some screen capture software for PocketPC, I came across a product that can capture and print an entire web page. This is something that has bugged me for years and I wondered why no one had come up with a way to print a webpage exactly as you see it on the screen.

WebCollect installs as a toolbar within Internet Explorer and offers a number of capture/print options.

In their word: “WebCollect allows you to capture various pieces of a web page – from a custom selection to the entire page”.

    WebCollect Toolbar

WebCollect will also grab an entire site including the areas that you would normally have to scroll to see. Other options include capturing a the current screen, a rectangle selection and magnifying certain areas of the page.

Once you press the capture button the page is opened up in the WebCollect window where you can choose to either print the page or save it as an image file.

This tool is extremely useful if you work with the internet a lot!

It seems to be free of spyware and adware and is worth having a go. The only draw back I can see is that it only works with Internet Explorer Versions 5 and 6.

    HTC P3300 Review

Paul at MoDaCo has been a busy boy this week and has just released his review of the HTC P3300.

    HTC P3300 Front

    HTC P3300 Specification:

  • Windows Mobile 5 for Pocket PC AKU 3
  • Quad Band GPRS / EDGE
  • FM Radio
  • TI OMAP 850 @ 200MHz
  • 128MB ROM
  • 64MB RAM
  • 2.8″ QVGA 65K colour screen
  • microSD expansion underneath battery
  • 2.0MP camera
  • miniUSB connector for sync / charge / headphones
  • 1200mAh battery
  • up to 3.5 – 5 hrs talktime
  • up to 150-200 hour standby
  • 58mm x 108mm x 16.3mm
  • 127g
  • This is one of the first HTC Artemis reviews that we have seen. It would appear that Paul isn’t a fan of the device.

“Your experience with the P3300 will almost certainly hinge on how you feel about the RollR. I would find it very hard to recommend the purchase of a P3300 without trying it first, particularly for those who are already Pocket PC power users, who may find it just holds them up too much.”

I would have to agree with Paul’s comments. Tracy and I tried the HTC P3300 out for a while last week and although we initially liked playing with the RollR it soon bacame more annoying than useful!

    Sim Unlock Orange C700/HTC MTeoR

I while ago I used IMEI Check to have my Orange M3100 Sim Unlocked so that Tracy could use it with her T-Mobile SIM.

Well Florin at IMEI Check has come up trumps again and is now able to provide SIM unlocking for the HTC MTeoR and Orange M700 (Although I did think the HTC Branded devices were unclocked anyway!?). The service costs £20.

I really do recommend IMEI Check, the service is really fast and efficient. Have a look on their website to see what they have to offer.

    Reassign Pocket PC soft keys

If you are anything like me, there are a few soft keys on your Pocket PC mobile device that you just don’t use. Personally I don’t use the contacts or the voice dial buttons on my HTC TyTN. In fact I find the voice dial button really annoying as I seem to keep pressing it by mistake.

Our friend Fabien got in touch to let me know that he had come across a piece of software that allows you to modify what each soft key does without having to get your hands dirty and play around with the registry. Furthermore Fabien has written an extensive tutorial on how to change the key settings.

The piece of software required to make these changes, ‘WM5NewMenu’, also has some other useful features.

“WM5NewMenu” is a configurable application launcher for Windows Mobile 5 with several preconfigured actions to create new items for your Today soft keys such as a SMS, MMS, Word documents, Notes, etc.

    Basic features WM5NewMenu version 2.02:

  • Launching by selectable Today soft key
  • Launching by any hardware button (new)
  • Simple configuration – Support for original “New” items
  • Cascading menus, up to 6 levels (new)
  • Up to 31 items in one level (new)
  • Separators (new)
  • Quick actions (Call, SMS) (new)
  • Configurable positioning (new)
  • Landscape support
  • Check out the full tutorial on Dafabmobiles.

    i-mate SPL Review

Our good friend Paul from MoDaCo has just published the worlds first review of the i-mate SPL.

By all accounts, Paul is pretty impressed with the device.

    i-mate SPL photos

“There’s no doubt about it, ‘thin is in’! A craze for super thin phones kicked off by the Motorola RAZR shows no sign of slowing, and with Samsung now blazing the thin-device trail too, the boundaries really are being pushed – at least in the feature phone market.”

    i-mate SPL Specification

  • Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphone AKU 3
  • Triband 850/1800/1900 or 900/1800/1900 (2 versions available) GPRS no EDGE
  • TI OMAP 730 @ 200MHz
  • 128MB ROM
  • 64MB RAM
  • 2.2″ QVGA 65K colour screen
  • miniSD expansion behind battery cover
  • 2.0MP camera
  • miniUSB connector for sync / charge / headphones
  • 1100mAh battery – 4 hours talktime – 150 hour standby
  • 114.5mm x 49mm x 12mm – 102g

    First HTC Herald Review

There is no doubt about it, the HTC Herald is making quite a stir at the moment. Slated to be the successor to the HTC Wizard, similar in specification but a whole lot thinner at just 18mm thick.

    HTC HERALD PHOTOS

PDAClub has the first review and some excellent comparison photos.

The HTC Herald is a successor to the HTC Wizard, now a low-end device compared to the HTC Hermes. The HTC Herald brings some improvements to the table, such as an improved 2 megapixel camera, AKU 3.2, WIFI G, and a much thinner design.

There are further hardware changes, such as moving from miniSD to microSD cards, and the loss of the infra-red port. One welcome refinement is the ability to switch the device on merely by sliding out the keyboard, and apparently the sliding mechanism itself has been improved.
