Lots of you out there seem to be waiting for the launch of the Samsung i900 Omnia before making up your minds between buying that or the HTC Touch Diamond.
Today I heard some news though, that comes as something of a disappointment. Apparently Samsung are not going to release the 16GB version of the Omnia in the UK, only the 8GB version.
We now have official pricing for the 8GB unit. It will be £399 + VAT, with first stock arriving 18th August. Because Samsung are not releasing the 16GB version Clove Technology thought they would come to the rescue with a special offer to help boost the memory available by offering a package with a FREE 4GB microSD card.
This offer is valid on all purchases of the 8GB Omnia, but you need the voucher code: SAM8GB0708
Simply use the code about when buying the 8GB Omnia and Clove shall send the machine with a free 4GB card!

I'm rather surprised that this is the case as you only have to try and buy a 16GB iphone-they are all sold (loads of 8gb on shelves)out so why try and shift 8GB Samsung's when people are demanding 16GB is rather sillier than not offering the punter a choice of 8 or 16 GB options in te first place!
Never mind we have an iphone that wont do a lot with 16GB offered by O2 and Samsung i900 that has it/can do it all all with only 8GB. Great marketing!!
Does anybody know what Network Providers will supply the Omnia in the UK?

Will this be available here?
The Samsung Omnia WILL release the 16GB version in the UK!!!
How do I know...I am due an upgrade on Orange and have been
told by 3 different Customer Advisors that the 16GB IS
available on ORANGE! I think Iphone groupies are quivering in their boots...hence the liesss!

By the way, great reviews guys, spot on.......
I have it on o2 and I wish I had got the iphone. Loads of pc compatibility issues and minor glitches. Worst of all is the Samsung manual, it is an adobe version. Alsoin typical windows fashion, find out for yourself if you can. I wish I had waited for the N96 I have just given my N95 to my daughter and regret it.
I have recently upgraded my contract and still waiting for Omnia from orange. I have called couple of time only they can say is , I WILL RECEIVE TEXT WHEN ITS IN STOCK BUT IF I NEED ONE URGENTLY I HAVE TO ORDER ONLINE PAYING MORE. SEEMS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT OLD CUSTOMERS.

SIM-free and choose your contract makes it massively more expensive (£350 extra) than an 8gb offered on a contract. I'm a mobile phone novice and a low user of calls and texts, but want an all-in-one to include music, pictures, sat-nav and mobile email and web. The Omnia seems to be far ahead of the game .
If I go SIM-free I can save money by staying PAYG. My current calling and texting usage is £10 per month. So the phone and PAYG would cost £620 over 18 months (about £100 more than an 8gb on the best contract I have been offered). I'm not sure if I can get full use of the data side. I would use wi-fi for email and web where possible, but there will always be times when I need to use the phone to download. I travel a lot in the UK and abroad.
Here's my q. Given all the above, am I better off settling for an 8gb and extra external storage that needs managing, or going 16gb SIM-free on a PAYG?.
How well will the data download side work on PAYG, especially abroad, and who would be the best provider for this?
What's the big downer with offering the 16gb on contract anyway? OK so O2 and T-Mobile are excluding it because of anti-competitive contracts with iphone and Google, but surely Orange can see the gap in the market?
