My Advantage has so far proved a disaster! I previously owned a TyTn with few problems.

The machine frequently locks up or operates so slowly as to be unusable. ActiveSync took all night - yes 14 hours to sync. (TyTn took 15 mins (I have 8000 contacts).

If I cannot locate a solution it is going back

Gordon,

I've not had any problems with my Advantage, in fact it's very fast and smooth. No lock-ups, battery life is amazing.

Have you installed any software on the device that could be causing a problem?

I've had no problems with my Advantage either. Runs smoothly and without hickups.
Have installed various programs, all working fine.

So far I'm very happy with my Advantage - except for the fact that my ROM-version leaves the lower part (1/2") of my todayscreen unavailable for any plugins (probably set aside for shortcuts but is not used).
But that's an issue with the installed ROM, not the device!

I've only been using the device for a week so I'm just about getting a feel for it. I'll try and get something up in about a week.

Mine is working wonders too. But I admit that first time round, active sync also took ages to run. I also ran into problems with the calendar but solved it by archiving all items over 24 month old. was probably stuck because it tried to find old email addresses which had disappeared and were still trapped in Outlook. The only 2 problems I have with it are due to that JETCET utility which slows down my machine (tries to find a missing dll) and also the configuration of Active Sync via bluetooth which I can get to work (was easier with my previous hp iPAQ since Bluetooth mnger was easier to use). Great mini computer.

Hi Everyone,

I just got the x7501 but have had no ActiveSync problems. It synchronized within a few minutes (about 1000 contacts, 6 months of calendar items and 1 month of emails).

However, I have experienced all of your ActiveSync problems before on my TyTN, and since I oversee the maintenance of the Exchange Servers at our offices I can confidently tell you that 100% of problems were either caused by or due to the Exchange servers, not the PDA.

Of course this is not to say that your PDA could not be the source of the problem. It's just that none of the one at our offices have been in the past year.

Whenever you feel like ActiveSync is having strange issues, try resetting your device's key on the server by removing all Exchane server sync relationships from your phone and adding them again after everything gets deleted from your phone.

I hope this helps!

BTW, no JETCET on the x7501. it's odd as printing is in the specs.

I am thinking of buying the HTC Advantage cos it looks
"stronger" than my Nokia cOMMUNICATOR (re intenet access)
and it also looks as if it will be easier to type on
for writing longish word documents. Is this right? And thanks fot the comments to date on the site - v helpful. Ian

Hi Matt/Tracy,

First time I have visited your site and it has inspired me.
Having a site like your is helpful to new users of equipment etc but I have realsed its great way of blagging new equipment from re-sellers.

Thanks for the idea I hope to have my site up and running very soon.
