Further to the Samsung i600 unboxed video I posted yesterday I have a followup video for you.

In the video above you can see me play with the device for a few minutes and have a quick dig through the menu structure and have a look at the applications installed as well as the homescreen set up.

You can also download a higher res version using this link.

Thanks to everyone that provided feedback to the first video, it's good to know that the effort involved in converting the video wasn't wasted! Please do get in touch via the feedback form and let us know what you think, should I continue with the video camera or simply stick to words and pictures?

The Samsung i600 is available now from Clove Technology but you can save £20 off the purchase price of the i600 using our voucher. Details can be found HERE.

Great video as far as it goes! The Orange salesman I spoke to about this phone said it will be targeted at business users, so it would be great to hear your opinion on build quality, reception quality, reliability (my WM 5.0 SPV600 hangs every day), the quality of the ear and hands-free speakers, and microphone. The landscape screen format is bound to conflict with some 3rd party smartphone applications, and it would be good to know roughly what proportion are affected.

Really useful to have the videos! I've just got an i600 (on Orange's Dolphin tariff) and it seems great. I'd moved up from an SPV C600, so Windows Mobile is a sinch.

The only problem I've come across so far is with Picsel Viewer. I've .pdf documents (not huge, c.60kB) that it refuses to view with any definition, and navigation/zooming seems to take an age. I don't know if there's a better document viewer I could download instead - maybe you could suggest something, please? I even tried pasting the contents of the .pdf into a Word document, but all Picsel viewer 'saw' was a big grey square!

Also, any idea where I can order accessories from, please - spare USB cable, spare batteries, etc?

Many thanks!

Good source for accessories is www.clove.co.uk if you can't find what you are looking for try dropping them an email.

There is a version of Adobe Reader for Pocket PC that you could try: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readerforppc.html No idea how good it is though. Aside from that there's Documents To Go from DataViz (www.DataViz.com) but it's not free.

Thanks, Matt. I found ClearVue by chance, and it works fine, albeit a little clunkily. And I'll check Clove out. Cheers!

Are you still as happy with the i600 as you were, by the way???
20/05/07 @ 18:13
Yes, I still like the i600, it's my main device at the moment. Have you seen my video of the Orange version of the i600 where is crashes when changing the ringtone? Does yours suffer this fate?

No, I can change ringtones/alarms easily - suggests that your Orange version may well be faulty....?

By the way, I contacted Clove about spare USB cable / batteries: they replied:

Kevin
Thank you for the e-mail - unfortunately we are unable to provide the items that you require and we wouldn't know where you will be able
purchase them.

Any idea where I try next? Cheers!

Yes, tried them, and the cable advertised as "USB Sync & Charge Cable for Samsung SGH-i600", erm, wasn't. The search continues....

Have to say, slightly (but only slightly) disappointed by i600's battery life using the standard battery (and we bought his phone cos it's slim, so it seems such a shame to put the extended battery in, no?). Maybe 48hrs of standby with moderate/light use?
25/05/07 @ 11:52
I know what you mean but even with the extended battery it's not that big. The extended battery gives me about 4 days worth of light use.

Hello Matt and Tracy
Lovely site, I found it when i looked for videos on the
Samsung i600. I was thinking if you can have a comparison
between HTC S630 and Samsung i600? I have found a good one
but it is old using a pre-launch devices!

I'm getting this phone at the end of October. On Orange :/ Wondering if it's worth asking if they would get me the Samsung version even if it means paying a bit extra? The only reason is I am, unfortunatly, one of those who fall in the 'hate' catagory for the windows alterations. But no other provider can offer the unlimited texts offer. Is there any way to get the phone back to the origional Samsung spec from Orange's modifications?

Hi
That's great phone-very smart & productive.
I am wondering if it can be unlocked to use SIM card of other UK networks?

Looks a great phone, but specs a bit vague on which bands the phone supports on 3G. It obviously has 2100mhz, but as it tri-band GSM does it also support the US bands for UMTS/HSDPA??
