White Galaxy Nexus incoming

Nexus White Front

Clove have announced that the White variant of the Google Galaxy Nexus should be hitting the selves of the UK week commencing February 6th. If you head on over to Clove you can sign up for further updates.

The Galaxy Nexus is proving to be a big hit with the Android community and Android 4.0 is a great improvement in my opinion.

Having previously manufactured the Google Nexus S, Samsung has once again been chosen by Google to apply its innovative smartphone expertise to its latest handset and this knowledge is married perfectly with the range of new features that Ice Cream Sandwich has to offer.

A range of cutting edge Android features are introduced via the Galaxy Nexus thanks to Android ICS. These include Face Unlock, a means of unlocking the device by looking at the 1.3 MP front facing camera. There’s also ‘Android Beam’, a feature that allows you to easily share contacts, apps, websites and more between two NFC enabled Android devices. Improvements have been made to several of the stock apps, such as camera, calendar and the web browser.

GameCommand Android app for Qualcomm launches CES 2012

Snapdragon_GameCommand-Thumb-300x300Last year saw Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor inside the cutting edge smartphones, which gave them a new class of power ready to be exploiting for gaming. Tegra 2 was new however, meaning most games were not optimized to run on their chipsets. Eventually their Tegra Zone app collected the games that would best show their gaming prowess. This year, Qualcomm are set to release their own take, called GameCommand, showcasing high quality immersive games as well as news feeds to keep updated on the latest gaming news.

It will feature over 100 titles optimised (and some exclusive) for Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, which are already present in high end smartphones today, such as the HTC Sensation and Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play. Find more in the PR, and look out for the app launching January 10th.

Motorola MOTOLUXE and Motorola DEFY MINI coming soon

motorola_mobility

This spring, Motorola Mobility, is helping you flaunt your individuality by adding two stylish and unique Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) powered smartphones to its growing budget-friendly portfolio. MOTOLUXE is a hip, slim touchscreen device and Motorola DEFY MINI is dustproof and water-resistant, making it the ideal “life proof” phone for active users. And they come in different shapes, sizes and colours – so you can choose a phone that best reflects your personality.

No matter what device you choose Motorola’s MotoSwitch user interface changes the way you manage your life. With MotoSwitch, your smartphone learns who you talk to and which apps you use and keeps all of that information front and centre. The Social Graph feature gives you easy and fast access to the people who really matter. It learns who’s most important to you and uses that information to populate the home screen. The more frequently you communicate with someone, the bigger their icon becomes. The Activity Graph gives you quick and easy access to your favourite apps, automatically changing to reflect the apps you use the most. With Music Now you can easily play your favorite music while the Smart Gallery displays your favourite pictures as collections.

Screen Shot 2012-01-05 at 14.44.45

The chaps at Clove say they have had news that ZTE’s first Windows Phone will be hitting the UK next month. Priced at £208 ex VAT (£249.99 including) this looks to be a keen price for a pretty well specced and large phone. Pre orders are not quite available yet but Clove say it won’t be long.

This one looks a bargain if you ask me.

Android 4.0 (ICS) on the Google Nexus S – Video

Nexus S

Since I put Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, on my Nexus S the other week I thought it may be worth showing you too, what with the device costing only £199.99 now sim free.

The alternative to the Nexus S is the Galaxy Nexus and although bigger and with better specs it is more than twice the price.

Android 4.0 has been given some slight tweaks to compensate for the Nexus S having capacitive buttons under the screen and I am sure this will be much the same on all older models that will support Ice Cream Sandwich.

You can see the action below:
