QNX Porsche concept car at CES

QNX-Porsche-CES-16_medium

Us tech geeks all know that QNX is what powers the BlackBerry PlayBook and that QNX itself is already used in many industries, including the motor trade.

Jacob from The Verge has been playing around in the QNX Porsche that is being shown off at CES in Las Vegas this week and it really goes to show the power, and advancements in technology that high end cars are going to be using in the future.

Essentially the Porsche concept car has a BlackBerry PlayBook mounted in its dashboard. However, it is not the ordinary PlayBook OS on board. Porsche have tweaked it to do some amazing things and many functions in conjunction with a BlackBerry Smartphone.

You can see the video below. It is awesome!

HTC Explorer unboxing video

HTC Explorer The HTC Explorer is the newest Android smartphone from HTC. HTC state that the Explorer is their most affordable smartphone coming in at the £150 mark it’s currently their least expensive (current) model.

The explorer is certainly small, a few millimetres shorter than the Wildfire and a little thinner than the Wildfire S whilst retaining the same 3.2″ HVGA screen size. Not surprisingly, the HTC Explorer doesn’t have the same aluminium construction as its more expensive counterparts, but instead has a rubberised back and edges that looks like an additional case around it.

There is a price to pay for the reduced cost of the HTC Explorer, the CPU is a somewhat limited 600MHz and available storage is just 90MB so you’ll be reaching for a MicroSD card pretty quickly. That said, as you can see in the benchmark in the video below, the Explorer seems to run at a reasonable pace and benefits from HTC Sense 3.5

Full review coming soon but for now here’s the unboxing and demo video.

Screen Shot 2012-01-10 at 18.36.50

Kevin from CrackBerry.com has been lucky enough to get hands on with OS 2.0 for the BlackBerry PlayBook over at the CES show in Las Vegas today. We posted the features of the new improved software just yesterday but now we can see exactly how cool these new improvements actually are.

With social integration throughout the email, contacts and calendar applications these new native features will really make us PlayBook users so so happy.

Another superb feature is using your BlackBerry Smartphone as a remote control for the PlayBook. One word: “amazing”.

If you don’t use/own a PlayBook I strongly urge you to watch the below videos.  I think you will agree that RIM are making vast improvements with the tablet OS and I for one cant wait until next month when the new software version rolls out.
