Lease a phone from O2

o2_simplicity

O2 today announces O2 Lease, the first smartphone leasing service in the UK. Available initially through O2 retail stores and over the phone, O2 Lease enables new or existing O2 customers to lease a new smartphone for one year with no upfront payment for £55 per month including insurance, 750 minutes, unlimited text and 500 MB of data*. Small businesses will also be able to take advantage of O2 Lease with a range of business tariffs. O2 Lease is unique in the market today.

O2 Lease puts the latest smartphone technology into the hands of the people who want it with minimal barriers, little long-term commitment, no upfront cost, no two-year contracts and crucially, at £55 with insurance, minutes, text and data an affordable price point. It provides certainty and predictability of costs for customers, a genuinely new way of engaging with those that want the latest smartphone and the latest technology every year, but either can’t afford the relatively high upfront cost of a normal 12 month contract or don’t want to be tied to a long contract. O2 Lease is the first tariff model available to all O2 customers that reflects the lifecycle of the smartphone industry.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro Review

XperiaPro-main A little while ago Matt did an unboxing video of a handset that I personally had my eye on because my partner and sister are looking for a decent phone with a physical QWERTY keyboard, so when I got the e-mail from Matt asking me to review the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro I jumped at the chance!

As you may notice this is going to be my 3rd Sony Ericsson Xperia phone to review in as many months, so I am sure that you will say to yourselves well ‘What’s the difference really?’

Well to find out the answer to that question you will have to read on to find the full review.

HP webOS made Open Source

HP_webos_OSS At the end of last week HP announced that they would be making webOS open source. Initial reactions were that this would be a really good thing and personally I was in agreement. As I said may times in review and on our podcast, I liked the operating webOS operating system that Palm/HP put on the Pre and Pixi but was massively unimpressed with the hardware so opening up webOS to other manufacturers sounds good, I’ve love to see a webOS HTC phone!

Indeed rumour has it that HTC are already working on a webOS handset.

So what’s the downside? Well one has to wonder what will happen to webOS. Will HP simply abandon the platform? That is perhaps the worry and the risk now as HP wont be making the money from the OS that they once were or had hoped to. Will they continue to love and support it?

In their press release, which you can see below, HP assures us that “HP plans to continue to be active in the development and support of webOS” but you have to wonder to what degree they will now do that.

Orange San Francisco 2 unboxing video

SanFran-main The Orange-branded San Francisco was launched around this time last year and was massively successful. The bargain Android phone was made by ZTE and sold as the San Francisco by Orange here in the UK for less than £100, a real bargain considering the spec. The ZTE branded version was called the ZTE Blade.

So just about a month ago Orange announced that they would be selling the San Francisco II in time for Christmas. This latest version boasts a 3.5-inch WVGA screen, Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, 5-megapixel camera, Orange HD Voice, Signal Boost and an 800MHz processor.

The spec is impressive and even more so when you discover that you can pick on up from Orange on PAYG for just £99.00 plus a £10.00 top up or from free with a contract.

I’ve managed to get my hands on the San Francisco 2 (made again by ZTE) for review and as always I’m starting off with the unboxing video which you can find below.

BlackBerry Curve 9360 unboxing video

9360 front

We have had the BlackBerry Curve 9360 for some time now but it didn’t come with a box. At last we have a retail unit so we can bring you the unboxing video.

Running BlackBerry 7 this Curve has the traditional QWERTY keyboard, unlike its brother the Curve 9380. In terms of an improvement over its predecessor, the 9300 it is a vast improvement. All the specs have been beefed up and what we get is a fantastic BlackBerry without the hefty price tag that comes with the Bold and Torch series.

With BlackBerry having such a huge market share here in the UK this new Curve may well be one of the best selling Smartphone’s over the next twelve months.

You can see the unboxing video below and watch out for the full review very soon.

Tegra 3 Shadowgun amazes

b_500_274_16777215_0___images_stories_reviews_shadowgun_shadowgun-android-game-reviewThe Tegra 3 version of Shadowfun seems to be making waves. The difference in detail and how the water looked alone was impressive. nVidia has released a new preview via Twitter showing more of what to expect. As you will see in the video is the Tegra 3 revamped version, the graphics and detail are incredible and have been improved upon on just about every facet when it comes to the game itself. Aside from the improvements, it’s a pretty bad ass trailer to watch anyways.

Polarbit extend Google’s celebration

ScreenClipPolarbit has dropped the prices of all their paid games. The most expensive ones they had are now only £1.27 while the rest of their catalog of titles are only 63p. From the sounds of it they plan to keep this sale going for all ten days that Google plans to do their sale. If you’ve been wanting some of Polarbit’s other titles, now is a great time to nab a couple for dirt cheap.

You can see all their games that they have on sale in their developer listing located here. Of course they also have a bunch of free games you can play and free versions of their paid ones to try out but for the discount they are giving right now, might as well grab the full versions right? Enjoy!
