Free iPhone 4 cases

mobilefun_logo.GIF_resized_240_99

You may have seen that I recently did a quick post mentioning that mobilefun had a nice new range of iPhone 4 cases. To follow on from that and to tackle the ‘death grip’ problem, that many people are having with the iPhone 4, mobilefun are giving away free cases!

The cases are made from non conducting silicone gel which acts as an insulator to prevent your hand from causing signal drop issues. How jolly decent of them!

The offer is not actually live until Monday so this is just really a heads up but if you have an iPhone 4 be sure to click here on Monday for some free stuff.

BlackBerry webkit browser on video

BB Logo

driphter.com have posted a rather nice video of the forthcoming BlackBerry web kit browser on their site. As you will see they don’t think that this is the finished product but even now it performs at a fantastic speed.

The browser is demoed on the BlackBerry 9800 Slider that we are hoping to see in the next few months. If you missed the video we posted on that device earlier in the week you can see it here

We have not seen many detailed demos of the new browser so this one is most welcoming. I think us BlackBerry users are in for a nice treat in the future.

The dilemma for me will be if I keep using my Bold 9700 or switch over to the 9800.

Enjoy the video below and feel free to air your comments on the forum.

Nokia 7230 unboxing video

7230-main We’ve recently been asked by readers to cover and review some of the less-expensive mobiles that are available. We’ve also been running the ‘bargain feature’ on the Mobile Tech Addicts podcast for the past month or so where we’ve been scouring the stores and the internet to bring you what we think are some of the best mobile deals out there.

To that end we’re looking at the Nokia 7230 here. It has been available since February this year and has just reached a price point of a little over £100 which makes it worth considering. It’s a reasonable specification for the money too, offering Quad-band reception, 3G, FM Radio and 3.2 mega pixel camera.

We’ll be reviewing the Nokia 7230 over the next week or so but thought we’d leave you with this quick unboxing so you can see what it come with and what it has to offer.

Samsung Galaxy S social networking video demo

GalaxyS-main With so many of us now using social media apps I thought would shown you how a few are handled on the Samsung Galaxy S that I reviewed recently. As you will see, the Galaxy S is a great mobile tool for taking care of your social media needs and with its 4 inch Super AMOLED display using these apps is a truly enjoyable experience.

In the below video I will give a basic tour of Facebook, Twitter for Android and MySpace on the Galaxy S. I hope the video is of some use if you are considering buying the device.

HP photo printer competition

A532-anged-open A few days ago I unboxed the HP Photosmart A532 which had just come in for review from IT247.com In the post I promised that we’d be running a competition here on the site in conjunction with IT247.com to give away a Photosmart A532 printer – A new one not the one I unboxed and reviewed.

So while I am putting together that review it’s time to kick off the competition!

Entering is about as simple as it gets. All you have to do is follow IT247.com on Twitter and retweet the following tweet: "RT @IT247uk I’m hoping to win an HP Photo Printer with IT247.com – Find out how you can enter too: http://bit.ly/aAY8w3" You can also click the retweet link below to save you copying and pasting the phrase. Your twitter name will be entered in to the draw. You’ll have to keep following us as we’ll notify winners via DM.

RETWEET ME!

IT247.com will pick a winner at random and will announce who’s won, via Twitter, on the 21st July.

An interview with GiffGaff

giffgaff-Mike-Fairman-pic-13

You more than likely saw the post I did the other day mentioning that GiffGaffs goody bags were currently half price. To follow on from the good work GiffGaff are currently doing we are lucky enough to have set up an interview with Mike Fairman, their CEO.

Even better news is that you will be able to listen to the interview as we will be recording it next Tuesday evening as part of our regular slot on the mobiletechaddicts podcast.

The podcast is normally posted late Tuesday evening so from then you will have the opportunity to hear what Mike has to say. Head on over to mobiletechaddicts.com for download details or just do a search on iTunes.

We need your help though. We would love you to submit any questions you have for Mike. We will endeavor to ask as many as possible but depending on the quantity we have we cannot guarantee all will be asked.

We are rather excited about this opportunity and hopefully this will be one of many similar interviews to come in the future.

So, either submit your questions on the forum under this post or you can email to Matt or myself.

Buy the HTC Wildfire sim free

Wildfire

If you are after the HTC Wildfire sim free we have some good news. devicewire.com will have the Wildfire in stock over the next day or two so if you want one you had better get your orders in quick as I think this one will be pretty popular. At only £224.95 (Incl. VAT) the HTC Wildfire represents real good value for money. It is not the cheapest Android phone but what you are getting is more or less the HTC Desire experience on a smaller and less powerful device.

If you have not read our Wildfire review please do so and then head on over to devicewire and place your order.

Vodafone annoying Nexus One owners

vodafone-google-nexus-one1

Vodafone’s modifying the firmware upgrade before they gear up to launch it for their Nexus-toting customers. Afraid that Vodafone might be omitting key Android 2.2 features such as internet tethering and hotspot capabilities, those customers have taken it to the official FroYo Nexus One thread on the carrier’s forums.
After a large thread of confusion and miscommunication, it’s said that the modifications are to ensure MMS and Voicemail features are working properly before Vodafone would have to eventually deal with a large influx of customer complaints. Who wouldn’t want their carrier looking out for the best interest of their device, right? Wrong!
A lot of the uproar stems from the supposed fact that Vodafone promised Nexus One purchasers (in voice and in writing) that they would not be touching any firmware updates for the device (and apparently they don’t care if that right would come at the expense of a buggy launch). As they understand it, all updates should be coming directly from Google.

Motorola Charm appears

motorola-charm-front-back

Some will say its the ugliest phone about but I honestly quite like it. Filling a niche gap that is currently empty, this front facing Qwerty keyboard Android phone is going to be a social networking must have. The Charm is one of the smallest Android phones measuring only 67.2 x 98.4 x 11.4 mm and weighing in at 110 grams. It features a 2.8 inch screen which is one of the first QVGA displays (320 x 240 resolution) on an Android phone in the U.S.
Units that were sent out for testing suggest it features a 600 MHz TI OMAP3410 processor (unconfirmed) with 512MB ROM and 512MB RAM.
