Amazon Kindle DX review

kindleDX About a month ago the nice people from Amazon kindly sent me a Kindle DX to review. The Kindle DX is the latest in the Kindle range of eBook readers which offers a larger and higher resolution display.

I have to admit that I am not a big reader, it’s not something that I have a lot of time for these days but one the that did appeal to me was the ability to display PDF documents so as I have to read a lot of reports this was one feature that I was keen to test.

The Kindle, like other eBook readers out there, utilises a display technology called E Ink. If you’ve never seen this with your own eyes before then it’s very hard to explain in any way that can do it justice. When anything is displayed on the screen it really does look like ink on paper. This means that reading the display for extended periods of time does not lead to the kind of eye strain of fatigues that you would expect from an LCD screen.

To find out what I actually thought of the Amazon Kindle DX in practice then please read on…

Windows Phone 7 Series Demo

7 I just spotted a fantastic video demonstration of Windows Phone 7 Series on the web.

Internet Entrepreneur and all round Tech Geek Chris Pirillo has posted an fantastic 17 minute video of him getting a hands on demo from Microsoft.

Whether you have seen ‘7’ in action or not its well worth making a coffee, getting comfortable and settling down for what I think is the best video so far showing the new OS in action.

Enough of me talking. Enjoy

HTC Legend demo video

Legend_per Hopefully you saw my HTC Legend unboxing video yesterday and although I did do a quick demo of a few of the features in that video I thought it would be a good idea to record another to show you some of the other apps and features that the HTC Legend has too offer.

I have to say that after 24 hours with the Legend I really like it. The build quality is nothing short of fantastic and that Super Bright AMOLED display is, er, Super! Although I like Android devices generally and thought I would like the Legend I’ve actually decided that I love it. That’s come as a bit of a surprise to me as I generally like to have a device with a larger and higher res screen but with the Sense UI and additional features that HTC have added I think the Legend may have simply made me even more impatient to try the Desire!

We’ll have the Legend for another few weeks while we prepare our review so please do feel free to ask your questions via the forum. You’ll find the demo video after the break. It’s over 20 minutes long so make yourself comfortable!

HTC Legend unboxing video

Legend-main Last month saw the launch of a few new HTC devices, the HTC Legend being just of of them and it seems that this one will be the first to go on sale.

So the Legend review units seem to have started to arrive with various journalists over the past few days and ours arrived just about an hour or so ago. Wasting no time I’ve grabbed the camera and recorded an unboxing and demo video for you.

In the video I’ll take you on a tour of the hardware and then we’ll have a brief look at the operating system and user interface. I’ll record another video later on and will look at more of the applications in greater detail.

We’ll also have the full review for you once we’ve had time to give the Legend a thorough road test. As you know, we wont write a review of anything until we have been able to use it properly!

After the jump you’ll find the video as well as a couple of teaser photos…

Windows Phone 7 Series isn’t going to be backward compatible.

windows mobiles

In a recent blog posting, Microsoft’s Charlie Kindel wrote about the Windows Phone 7 Series application development and he explains that Microsoft had to change its strategy to accommodate what developers have been asking for. Specifically developers told Microsoft to focus on the end user experience and take more responsibility for delivering integrated end user experiences, invest more deeply in the developer platform and developer experience as well as driving a standardized hardware platform creating a simpler ecosystem and a larger – consistent – opportunity. And therefore Windows Phone 7 developer experiences will build upon the following technologies:
